Tonks is not an aggressive bunny to me or my husband but she is towars other animals. (It’s why we could not bond her and bones!)  She’s going thru this weird thing I call wet butt where her butt is gross and wet (with pee no poop) for about a month and I have to give her a butt bath every other day with this medicated shampoo the vet gave me. Anyway when she is out she constantly wants to hump my cat!!!! Yes my cat!!! Anyone else have a bun with behavior like this ?

Many rabbits will mount a house cat. She is showing your cat that she is the boss. What concerns me more is that she is wet. Have you had her checked for a urinary tract infection? When a rabbit isn’t well, for example, with urinary trouble, it may make her more humpy too.

I’m with Petzy on the urinary trouble – did the vet do a urinalysis.

No urinalysis. I did not take he to her regular vet though. We were at Banfield vet office in petsmart getting her nails trimmed and since we were there I had them look at her. They did tell me to lay off the spinich for a while since she eats alot of it!!! I guess if it conintues over the next day or so I’ll take her to her regular bunny vet!!

Yeah, I would definitely take her. She should not have a wet bottom and she is probably uncomfortable.

And we know from BB’s Jack that bladder problems can cause humpiness too. Definitely take her in – I don’t think it’s something that will get better by itself.

I take mine to a great vet! He actually just neutered my rabbit today. He did an extra exam and didn’t even charge me what he quoted me. They even trimmed his nails whle he was out. After he was done they called me right away. He has had around 30 years experience and every time I go there is other rabbits there for care. You should check him out. It’s East Side Animal Hospital at 4125 East Morgan Avenue in Evansville.

Oh, I also agree with getting the urinalysis. As far as the humping, it’s normal for a rabbit to hump things for dominance. Every time I reached in Baxters pen to fill his food bowl he would grab onto my arm and try to hump me. I thought it was because he needed neutered but he only did it when I had pellets not when I had veggies or reached down to pet him. Oh, spinich is high in calcium for rabbits also. I would try some cilantro, romaine lettuce or parsley. They are high in Vitamin A but not calcium.

lol sorry to reply again but……..the vet that I told you about charges $44 for an exam and then $11.35 for routine urinalysis.

Just want to echo Elrohwens thoughts too. It was thought Jack’s humpiness might have been a displacement behaviour due to the discomfort he had from a bladder stone.

Nibbles…. Is it Dr Thompson??? Thats who I take Tonks to at the east side animal place!!! She is going to see him on Monday!! I have been seeing him now for almost a year when Tonks had to have her surgery to have all of those tumors out!! They always trim her nails for free when she’s in there visiting!!! (For just a quick nail trim I take them to Banfield cuz it’s so close and cheap.) I was taking Tonks to the vet there before I met Dr Thompson. The bandfield vet is the one that told me nothing was wrong with her. I called Dr Thompson’s office yesterday and they are seeing her Monday because he is out today.

I hope your bunny is okay. It’s such a worry when there’s something out of whack and you don’t know why.
Btw, I have four bunnies, two males, two females, and every one of them hump the cats. They seem to all prefer short haired black and white Kirby to long haired all white Marshmallow.
But in a pinch they don’t really care who’s who. I have one bunny who’s hysterical! He knows that Kirby hates him for trying to hump her, but he still tries. She retaliates by giving him a good wallop on the head, (her claws are clipped), and so RaisinBun does this thing where he crouches very close to the floor and makes himself as flat as possible. Then, he scootches forward juuuuust the tiniest bit. Then he waits. Kirby is motionless, with her paw up and ready. Nothing happens, so he scootches just the tiniest miniscule bit again. Waits, nothing happens. Scootch, wait. Scootch, wait. Scootch, WHAUMP!!!!. Okay, run away, lol.
So funny. He never learns, silly babbit.
Keep us updated on your little one. Hope she’s okay.
