  Okay, so Stormy’s been grumpy lately – which can easily be blamed on his hormones kicking in, seeing how he’s unneutered.
  
  Rather than dealing with constant thumping and lunging at me when I try to get him out of his cage, I made a makeshift ramp and left his cage door open for him to openly leave his cage while I’m downstairs, in the basement where he lives.
  
  I sat down there for 7 straight hours yesterday, reading a book on the couch. He refused to leave his cage. Same thing this morning. His cage doesn’t allow for much exercise, even though he does have a few toys in there – which he hardly touched yesterday and this morning. I’m worried about his lack of exercise. I can’t even bribe him out with treats – the only thing that EVER gives him incentive to do something I want is dandelions, and the vet told me to cut back on them, and I pretty much completely rid them from my yard this spring.
  
  How on earth can I get the guy out of his cage?

  Are you sure he knows how to use the ramp? Is there any way you can put his cage on the ground?

  I started mine on ramps by putting their treats up and down them and they got used to it. Don’t be surprised if he just likes his home and is comfy in there. Mine might clamor to get out, but after a few minutes of running around they usually go back in and lounge by the open door.

  I too agree, maybe he’s just not sure how to use the ramp.
  I have a Lop who would rather stay in his pen, he feels safe there.

  Sorry I don’t have any helpful ideas for getting him out of his cage, but I was just curious why did the vet say to cut back on dandelions?

  Oh, and I have a bunny like Andi’s too. Sully likes his cage and comes out if I am sitting and interacting with him. Or he prefers having a hut or box to retreat to if he is out. I guess he just feels more secure that way.

  I’m almost tempted to just get rid of the ramp. He has been know to escape on his own, and it’s only about 9 inches from the ground, so he can easily get in and out…
  
  The vet said no more dandelions because I’d been feeding him a lot, and she says they’re way too high in calcium to feed him lots.
