Hi everyone! So I have still been on the hunt for the perfect cage for the bun girlies. I found a cage on CL that I was curious about. Its technically a ferret cage, but with minimal alterations (like carpeting the little ramps) I would think it would work. However, I am still so new to this and worried that I will but it and it not work. Here is a link to it. The cage I might look at includes litter boxes, little beds, etc.

        Thank you!!!

Are you looking for something high because you want to save floor space? I can assure you that for $229 you can build your rabbit an executive condo out of NIC grids and be much happier with it! The thing is with grids you can build high, but you can also make a pen if you ever wanted to, or you can make gates if you wanted to let your rabbit free-range… the ferret cage is actually small for a rabbit and the ramps are too steep.

I agree with Petzy.  Or if you are willing to spend that kind of money, I recommend the Leith Petwerk Condos designed for rabbits:

I have a 3 story one for my little Dutch pair and it’s very nice.

Ok Thank you! The only reason I don’t use the NIC grids is because of my mother, who has very strong opinions about caging (lets just say that the first day the buns were here, she let them out and they chewed a up non-active, but very important cord to our modem for the internet). I was going to use those but unfortunatly, she doesn’t like that idea I will just keep looking! I do like the Leith Petwork Condos though, is there any stores you can buy them through?

Would your mother change her mind if she saw some photos of escape-proof NIC condos?

Wow, those Leith Petwerk Condos are pretty fancy!

I have NIC cages, and never had an escapee, as long as I remember to lock the door the the cage LOL.

(hope it’s OK, moonlight, I posted this here)

You mean she wants a proper-proper cage?  Wants them caged permanently?  The rabbits will still get time out of the cage won’t they?  I take it the cage you found on CL was much less than the example you linked?  Even so, I just wanted to ask how you have them set up now and how they are getting along?  In your intro post you mentioned they were 7 weeks old. My concern is whether they will remain civil to one another once puberty hits.  It would be a shame to fork out money for a cage for them then have to house them separated.  So how is things on the bunny-front?

It is perfectly fine for you to post pics of my condo Petzy, in fact I take it as a compliment!

Yea I agree that NIC cages are perfectly stable and escape proof. At first I thought that my bunnies might chew on the ziptyes but they have not touched them.

Also another perk of NIC cages are that you can reconfigure them whenever you want. Since you have two young buns they might not get along once they hit puberty (as Jersygirl said) so you could put them in two separate NIC cages, but when you bond them then you could combine the two small cages into one big cage.

You can reinforce the zipties with twisted wire if you are concerned that the rabbit will chew the ties.
Moonlight, your condo cage is one of the coolest! I especially like that it is silver. It is not vinyl-coated, or is it?

Thanks Petzy, and yea I think it is covered with something to make it more shiny.

What brand are your grids, moonlight? The only ones I have seen here were coated with vinyl. I never saw shiny ones.

I think they are Organize-It cubes. I got them at Target just before they stopped selling the small grids and started selling the large ones.

I  think I got something like this, they look kind of black in the picture but it says they are silver.

Thanks Moonlight! I would like a silver condo with pink shelves one day ~ but it is just a dream.
So sorry, Dominique, for side-tracking your discussion!
