So, yesterday Hatter was sleeping in normal bunny position….lets stretched behind but head upright.  I know that rabbits are able to sleep with their eyes open…..but….his ears would slowly started pressing to his back and I could see his lips moving (almost like he was muttering to himself). Every once and awhile his whole body would twitch. It reminded of my old dogs when they would dream and their bodies “twitch.”

I was a little nervous at first, but then all of a sudden he woke up. His behavior is normal, but I have never seen him do this before….is this something I should be worried about or has anyone else ever seen their bunnies “dream?”

I’m pretty sure they do, or there’s something wrong with mine too! Mine do the same when they’re sleeping…it’s sometimes hard to tell unless you wave a treat in front of them and realize they must be asleep…

Absolutely. Spockie used to dream about 7 course meals, judging from all the chewing and twitching going on, with eyes closed for the most part.
Open is OK too. It’s actually an indication that Hatter is so comfortable and safe with you that he can go into a deeper sleep when you’re there.

            *I’m…dreaming of a white…rabbit…*

Thanks guys…I didn’t think it was really anything to worry about, but as I said, it was the first time I have ever seen this happen. My guy has come so far! On the 13th it will only have been for 3 months….time flies

Otto does this all the time! He only has “bunny dreams” while he’s in a bunny loaf. His eyes will close, his eyebrows will twitch, and his mouth will move like he’s muttering (perfect description). It’s so cute! I always wonder what he’s dreaming about. Probably us getting wall-to-wall carpet.

Moosie dreams alot. His feetsies will twitch likes he’s running, his whiskers wiggle, all sorts of cuteness abounds
