I’m sure this has been asked before, but after a quick run-through of the archives, I couldn’t find the exact answer I am looking for…

I bought some 100% pine animal bedding called “Nature’s Animal Bedding” in pellet form the other day from a feed store. (The store clerk told me it’s supposed to be a lot like “Woody Pet” animal bedding.) It doesn’t say “dried” anywhere on the bag, but it is in pellet form, so I wasn’t sure if it was okay or not to use… It also says “not for animal consumption,” so I’m a little worried about putting it in his litter box…

        Thoughts?

i don’t know this brand but with pine it is important that it was kiln-dried to eliminate most of the volatile phenols of the pine. Woody Pet’s pelleted litter is kiln-dried. I would look on the package for a co. contact and email them and ask to find out. If he eats one or two wood pellets, it won’t hurt him, but do provide safe branches for chewing for him to keep his teeth occupied that way. Willow is a safe wood to use for this purpose amongst other kinds.

Thanks so much for the info, Petzy! I’ll see if I can find some contact information on the bag tomorrow…

I did a search and there’s a product named Nature’s Best animal bedding. Would this be what you purchased? If so, you’re fine with that one as the wood is heat treated then pelleted.  The caution on the bag may just be because in pellet form it might be confused with rabbit feed. rabbits seem to sample small amounts of their litter material what ever it is.
