  A rabbit rescue person in Martinez came across a situation at a neighborhood garage sale that stopped her in her tracks. The family selling baby bunnies out of their garage let her in their backyard to discover what we all dread and makes our hearts sink. 100+ rabbits living in poor conditions and tunneling in the ground, breeding uncontrolled and living with mites, fleas and probably other medical conditions. Some babies have bloody ears and all are in need of medical attention. All must be removed and the females spayed before 100+ turns into more. One litter was born last night and we are certain there are more to come.
  
  The Rabbit Haven in Santa Cruz and Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary in the Central Valley have offered rescue assistance to the Martinez rescue, but neither of us can take in this many rabbits.

  What do the rescuers need?
  
  Cages, water bottles, food dishes, bedding, hay.
  
  Foster people willing to open their homes to help house babies and adults.
  
  Help at the site with sexing, medicating and triage of the sick rabbits.
  
  Rescue groups to take rabbits in under their own program.
  
  Transport people to take the rabbits to vet appts and moving them to other rescues.
  
  HELP, HELP and more HELP!

  Sigh, we still haven’t recovered from the Moreland rescue, and now another of these comes up.

  I know…so many needy bunnies, and the rescues are so full! I wish all the Bay Area rescues a bunch of adoptions this weekend so maybe we can have a little more capacity…
  
  But thank goodness these ones were found before there was twice that number…only would take a month or two…
