My rabbit has been doing his business outside of his litter box. I clean it with vinegar. Is there some kind of scent that is harmless but they don’t like?

How old is your bunny, and has he been neutered?

He’d be doing this for a reason. Sometimes when we change type of litter or the box. If the box is too small, too dirty, too clean, if he got a fright while in in one day, if he prefers to sleep in it instead. So figuring out what his adversion is will help. Also, as Monkeybun has asked, his age and whether he is fixed or not can influence litter habits also.

There are definitely other things you can try like Jersey mentioned. Can you tell us more about him, his housing, and situation?

Is that him in your avatar?  He is gorgeous!  He is also big!  He’s sitting in one of those clementine boxes, and filling it up… and as a New Zealand, if he isn’t already, he can get up to 10-12 pounds.  So you definitely want to have a large size cat litterbox for him.

Definitely acting out for a reason. It could honestly be as simple as he doesn’t like the corner the litterbox is in and prefers another corner. Bunnies are naturally very routine, clean animals…if your bunny is going in the same area outside of the litterbox, move the litterbox there. That being said, neutering and spaying is the best thing you can do for your bunny healthwise and behaviorwise!
