I have allergies, so I’ve never been a bit pet person but, when my parents picked up two dogs and we went to their first vet appointment, the vet was very clear that the dogs should never be given grapes due to a high risk of something called “grape toxicity” which can lead to liver failure. We were also told to avoid onions, garlic and potatoes for other reasons.
Since we got our bunny, we have been diligent about not giving her any of these things because I figured, what’s not good for the goose probably isn’t good for the gander and since no one ever told me any of these foods were important to her diet, it never seemed like a big deal. Now, it’s more curiosity than anything else. Sure, as summer looms, the desire to feed her frozen bits of anything to help keep her cool exists but mostly, I just want to know so I don’t have to think about it
There are a lot of safe/unsafe foods list and grapes are never mentioned on any of them. I realize it’s a fairly new development, as far as veterenary science is concerned, but has anyone else been advised to feed/avoid grapes for their rabbit?
