That will teach me to answer the door, I guess.
A neighborhood kid had a little guy they found under their car yesterday (we live on a very busy street for this little town) it’s a wonder he wasn’t run over. They’ve been to every ones house around and no one claims him, so we’re going to put up some posters tomorrow. Again, little town, everyone stops to read everything on a pole 😉
He’s definitely an un-neutered male, just the rith age to be a former Easter gift, extremely friendly, ears squeaky clean, toenails clipped but tummy and feet stained yellow. I set him up in a cage away from my others until we see if someone shows up tomorrow for him.
He ate, drank and flopped out for a snooze and slept for over an hour. I hope we find his family (and they want him and take care of him) Poor little guy was tuckered out.

Ah, he’s cute! I guess they all know you as the Bunny Lady in town :~) Not sure if that’s good or bad though.
Kathy, congrats on your new….*cough, cough, cough*
Oops, I mean I hope his owners come forward and a good ones. Thanks for taking him in – he sure looks relaxed there.
Aw, he’s definitely a cutie! What happens if no one claims him?
What JG said
He looks like a shy little Indy ![]()
He looks happy to be somewhere quiet and safe. My husband would want to kill me for taking another bunny in temporarily as it sets my bunnies off on territory wars- but that is one cute bunny.
What a kyootie ![]()
Oooo It’s a Indy Bun twinsy!! I am so glad you were able to take him in – so nice of you !!
Oh dear, now I feel worse. I just carried the bunny down to the neighbor’s house and they look like people who’d sell anything for a buck ;-(
‘grandma’ has 2 x-pens of ‘yorkie’ type puppies for sale, looks like a permanent type garage sale in the back yard. I made the mother promise not to give the rabbit to anyone BUT the owner, don’t sell him and I’ll take him off their hands if he’s still there in a couple of hours (or as soon as I see the temp hit 80)
I hope it is only because he has been on his own planned trip outside his garden, and not that his family has put him outside to get rid of him.
Fingers crossed, his family will be happy to hear he has been found!
ok, call me a woosy. I just went down and brought the bunny back home. Adam, the kid who found him, asked if we could name him Charlie so Charlie it is. They will be moving in a few weeks so I’m glad they brought him to me. This is the same rent house we found the starving dog in a few years ago so maybe it redeems some of it’s bad karma with rescuing the little guy.
jerseygirl– I AM GOING TO FIND HIM A HOME, rinse, lather, repeat as needed
sarita, while my Waco friends all know about the rabbits, I keep it pretty quiet out here in West so I don’t get to be the local dumping grounds for unwanted pets because i would wind up keeping them and wind up starring on Pet Hoarders. My little 5 yr old neighbor, Sam, visits the bunnies quite often so when these kids knocked on their door he told them all about mine…lol
I love the name Charlie! And I’m glad you brought him back home. He will be well taken care of now until he finds his home…although I have to admit that I will keep an eye out for a new thread about your new bunny
It would be so much easier if bunnies were chipped or tatooed like cats and dogs, so the owners were always easy to find. Molly has an ear tatoo, but I wouldn’t know what register bunnies are kept in…and if they are in registers.
thanks, Karla, it was your mentioning that maybe he was deliberately let go that made me go back.
You can microchip your bunnies. ![]()
Awww, that is so sweet. I would have done the same. He does look so relaxed to be found by you in your photos. *ah nice cozy towel to snooze Zzzz*
Charlie is a cute name too!
I’ve been taking a better look at Charlie. His front feet, the back feet from the toes to the hock, bottom and tail are totally stained with pee. I don’t think he would sit in enough pee on his own to soak it up like that, makes me wonder what type of housing he lived in. Smells really strong urine. Maybe someone got tired of cleaning his cage and did turn him loose.
I had him locked in my bedroom but Pringles coordinated with my largest cat to push the door open and I saw her make a beeline for the cage.
(Flashback four years: Pringles finds Toby in my bedroom, a temporary foster for our local shelter. She immediately dumps poor Daisy and refuses to leave Toby’s cage, bringing him all the bunny toys and squashing herself against the bars. Shameless hussy!!)
Pringles and Charlie just sniffed each other through the bars and visited for a few minutes and then Pringles left the room. A bit later she comes back with Toby and they both check out charlie and flop out beside the cage for a while, then run back to their own condo in the bunny room. They were all just curious, no agression or anything which suprized the heck out of me because normally Toby will get real possessive and start (trying) to hump Pringles when the other bunnies get near, but he didn’t.
Could my hussy have a trio in mind?
I think I’m being conspired against in my own home. I think a vet check is in order as soon as I can next week.
well, looks like he found a home ![]()
Hehehe that is so cute! And he’s adorable!
Well…. good luck with him and what ever you decide to do ![]()
I like this “Kathy V’s The Bunnies” show.
you know… my black and white bunny I found running stray in the neighbour hood, i did find her original home (they dumped her)… and well the ‘temporary’ bunny is now my Aniseed :p
Well, if you find “divorce attorneys, Texas” in your Google history… you’ll know who to blame… Ms. Pringles. Lol!
But seriously, at least you know he’s safe at your house. And really… if he COULD be somehow put into a trio… that’s not anymore *work* for you in the long run!
Thanks for taking in the little cutie. Poor thing
I know you will make the best decision for this little guy.
I’m thinking about the trio possibility after I have him checked out by Dr. Irving.
His cage is close to the air conditioner and I think he really appreciates it after being out on the asphalt road in 92 degree heat. Every time I walk by he’s snoozed out. Here he just finished breakfast and fell asleep in his dish…lo poor little guy, look how dirty his feet are.

AWE! he`s so cute! So happy there are people like us out there for these bunns who need us! When I got my bunn, samething, except the provious parents at least cared & found a forever home for Lily! It really breaks my heart knowing that people just through away their pets! Especially after the pets are bonded with the family, just thinking of the heartbreak the animal would feel breaks my heart!
What a little darling! ^_^ Honestly, I am not sure I could’ve left such a waif at that house, even if they did claim it. I’d be backing out right quick! ^_^ (“Um…sorry…this is the wrong bunny….let me go get the right one….”-and then never return)
Good on you for getting him back. He needs you!
(is silently fuming at the other animals in cages for sale-especially the yorkies, who don’t do well when neglected especially)
He looks awfully comfortable already…
And lol @ Pringles! She’s quite the ambassador of goodwill isn’t she?
