Today! in just one half of an hour! I leave to get my new bundle of bun!

Little Man (who I usually just call Fuzz these days) will of course come with us. He is to be bonded to Skippy, a gorgeous brown bun nearly his same age. Both have been spayed/neutered for quite some time.

Well, I have to go clean out the car so I can go get her. I am very excited and will be sure to keep you posted.

          That’s wonderful!

PLEASE post some pix of the two of them asap.

Well, we started last night for a brief period and I can most definitely say that it was NOT love at first sight. I put them both in the bath tub (neutral territory) and they just sniffed at each other for a few minutes. Then it all went wonky! I tried to keep them apart, but I was too slow and she mounted him and started to bite him. So I separated them and let them ignore each other for a minute then we called it a night.

Exercise (aka romping around the living room) didn’t go much better. But I was quicker and more prepared this time so less biting occurred.

Today when I got home from work I reached into her (new bun) cage to grab a piece of hey and she jumped on my hand and bit me! Not good. After awhile we set out for the bathtub again. Buns are more ready to fight than before and when I separate them, she bites me again…. and fairly hard.

My questions are how soon do I get between them? Do I wait till they appear agitated? Or do I just keep them apart all together? or do I wait till they start biting?

If they look like they are about to go for each other, spray them in the face with a water bottle. This should stop them in their tracks, if it’s done before the fight starts.

Have you tried stressing them out before the bathtub, using either a car ride or a washing machine?

If they look like they are about to go for each other, spray them in the face with a water bottle.

So is that when they hop over to each other initially? They usually sniff at each other face to face most of the time they are in the tub. They don;t really do much except look at each other, then very suddenly they are at it.

Day one they both went in the car with me before the bathtub, but not on day two. We’ll try a car ride again tonight and see how it goes.

Any help at all is really appreciated!

I heard spraying a rabbit in the face with water can cause them to aspirate the water and have respiratory problems.

Well, you are not supposed to spray them up their nose — Beka means on the forehead.

I suggest trying Petzy’s cube method.
You get 6 NIC grids and make a cube (with an opening lid) and put in a towel and the two buns and it will be a “forced snuggle”

I’m only on my third day of bonding, so I probably am not in a place to give you advice. But my boys tore each other apart when I initially started to bond them a few months ago. Once I began again and used the cube, they are peaceful little buns. But, of corse it depends on the rabbits’ personalities. It won’t work for all bunnies.

I would say that if you get to the point to where you aren’t sure what to try yet, go for the cube. You can also put it on top of the washing machine for a stresser. Or if you make it VERY secure and stable you can hang it from a dog leash so it swings a little back and forth.

I got everything I just said from reading another thread where Petzy was talking about the cube.

                        Good luck!!!!
