So, I thought I was getting my new bun today, but I guess not. anyway, the woman from the adoption said, several things: No laundry basket for the car ride home (the rabbit will jump out) but i’d be in the back with a helper. I must use the same pellets the bun has been fed on or she could get GI Stasis. No keeping the bun in the same cage as the other bun (I’m pretty sure she’ll share the same one after awhile).  Is this correct? anything else I should know?

Sounds about right. You definitely don’t want to stick them in the same cage immediately. You have to do bonding sessions first.

Gradually change over to the food you are using to not upset the new bun’s tummy. Some bunnies can be very sensitive to changes in diet.

I definitely suggest a pet carrier for the trip home, less stressful for all involved

You can get a pet carrier for 10-15 dollars at a local Petplace

Thanks. I already have a huge one, but my cat  has used it (twice). Actually, I have two huge identical ones. One has been used by my current cat(twice), and the other my cat won’t use because my last cat used it. Are either okay, or will that freak out the rabbits?

Just wash it out, should be fine.

Thanks Monkeybun. It’s outside right now—I sprayed some pet safe non chemical cleaner on it and it’s setting. I was worried I wouldn’t able to get another bun—at the last minute she called and mentioned she forgot about a prior engagement.

I’m going to bring My bun in it with his blankey, and his stuffed bun for comfort. any hints on bringing water and food? the car ride will be an hour and a half one way.

I’m so excited! I’ll start up my bonding journal tomorrow after the new bun calms down a bit.

put some hay in the carrier, and that should be fine til you get your new furbaby home. Most bunnies won’t drink water in a moving vehicle.

Thanks! I’m getting Oxbow pellets and fresh hay there too. I’m so excited!

I don’t want to scare the buns, so i’m waiting until the car to take pics. leaving in 2 and a half hours I can’t wait to see who she’ll bring she said she has lots of wonderful female buns, and said something about 2 years old. i’m not sure if that means 2 and up, or around two, or just near two…but I can’t wait!
