        So I have posted that Baxter is 4 months now and descended and scheduled for his neuter on the 17th of June. Well, he is starting to change He is normally very clean and happy. He is now starting to lose his litter box habbits! He was so easy to litter train but now he is pooping wherever he feels like it. I have always kept his pellets in his feeder (it hooks onto the pen) above his litter box. I noticed he was chewing the carpet so I moved his litter box over where he was chewing until I covered that area with wood and peel n sticks. He is pooping where his litter box used to be. Not peeing, just pooping. Probably just used to it being in front of his food. Anyway, I noticed it is in a few other places scattered around his pen. This is not his normal poop though. It looks normal as far as it not being soft and it’s round but it is darker and it seriously smells like a skunk. Is he marking his scent with his poops? He ALWAYS uses his litter box except for when he does this type of poop. Also, he is not mean or agressive at all. I was playing with Bella in the other room and then came to pet his and he smelled my hands and smelled her and he bit me. He didn’t growl or thump or anything. He also didn’t bite hard enough to leave a bruise but it did hurt a little. Is this behavior due to his maturing?

          Short answer:   YEP!

          Hopefully you were able to put the litterbox back.   It sounds like his aggression was definitely only due to your other bunny’s scent, and yes his poos are going to be smelly– since he can put a thin little skunky smelling goop over his poos (that’s what those lovely anal glands are for)  Yucky.

          Sooooo…..I bet June 17th can’t come soon enough now.

          In the meantime, give him some phonebooks to tear up.  And obviously now you’ve figured out that you may need to wash your hands after touching Bella.  Does she stay in the same room with him normally?  IF so, you could also use a toy bunny or just stuff a sock and then get Bella’s scent on it by brushing Bella, and then rubbing the fur all over the toy or stuffed sock and let him work out his…eh hem..…frustration.

          If he can work out some of his raging hormones, it may make him easier to deal while you wait for June 17th.

          Good Luck and Hang in there.

            OKAY. That all makes a lot of sense. Bella doesn’t stay in the same room as him. I had to move her to a different room (she is free roam) because when she was in the same room, he was marking EVERYWHERE!! Way more than he is now. He is a sweet little guy, he is just very frustrated! lol. I loved your scenting a sock advice by the way! LOL He is in my room, I really don’t think I want to see that! lol I would have to give him some privacy. He already eats his cecals in front of me! YUK! And his poops do SMELL! Horribly! I made a comment on a thread a couple of weeks back that a thought a skunk may be spraying outside of my house. NOPE, it was Baxters nasty poops! You are absolutly right! June 17th seems like months away! I gave him a phone book to shred. So far he likes it.

              I tried this!  I didn’t want to because I didn’t want to face that my baby boy was growing up.  BUT, I couldn’t handle the skunky smelling poop bombs stinking up my house.  I used an old bear and when I gave it to him…well…..you know…

               *Do you think his scent poop is due to him trying to attract a female because of his raging hormones of is it also a territorial thing? I am wondering if he is territorial at all. I mean, I know he would be to another bunny in his space but I go into his pen 3 or 4 times a day and he is all over me wanting attention. Wouldn’t he lunge or thump at me if he was territorial over his space?

                           * I cannot believe I just gave my rabbit a s*x toy!
