did you talk to the breeder about keeping her longer? i think you said in your other thread that she is only 5 weeks… Either way, I guess it is too late. Hopefully she does okay away from her mom so early. Looking forward to the pics

I thought she was younger…she is actually 7 weeks. She is doing very well. Hopping around her cage, drinking water, eating her hay and even playing with the toys we bought her! She seems to be settling great considering I have 2 girls, 2 dogs, and run a daycare with 3 other children. She does not mind the noise at all. At first she did and hid but only for 10 min. Now she is bouncing around her cage!!

she is doing so well. Think she is tired now cause she went to the corner to lie down. She was playing with her toys and eating. I love this little girl already!

Babies do sleep a lot! They get up and run around for a minute, then flop right back down.

Now that I think about it, adults do the same thing 😛

You have to keep in mind that breeders do not care about longevity with their breeding stock. After a couple years, they’re done with them anyways, so if they succumb to cancer at that point, oh well. Fortunately, you are wanting to keep her around for the long haul and you are mindful of the various reasons why altering is so important. Breeders tend to see rabbits as a pet for a few years and then you get another when it dies.

I think breeders are also very conscious about how much they spend on vet care. To them, spending $200-400 on an elective surgery for a rabbit seems insane. But for pet owners, that’s just the cost of having a bunny. We don’t have 30 rabbits to take care of so we can give them the best vet care possible.

Yeah that is sad….this bunny is part of the family now and her health means a lot to me. I would do anything to make her live as long as possible! The animal lover that I am. My sister had a mouse for 1.5 yrs. He died a month ago and I SOBBED!!!! People made fun of me saying im a 31 year old who is balling over a mouse!! Well sorry I have a huge heart for animals!
