The exotics vet called for an update on Griff yesterday- she was happy to hear that he is back to normal- and she offered to email me his x-rays.  He was so cooperative they got a view of him laying on his side- and then got the trickier view of him laying on his back.  On the side x-ray if you look up by his neck- see the “grain of rice” thingy?  That is his microchip.  The conclusion from the x-rays was that his stomach was slightly distended and his intestines were gassy.  He jumped everytime she tried to feel his right kidney- but his stomach blocks the view of the kidney- so to be on the safe side I am taking him in for labwork thru my vet clinic with my employee discount later this week just to be on the safe side.

(I resized them so they were not huge- the original x-rays were taken on 14 in x 16 inch film)

I love looking at x-rays. Glad he’s better. I can see those gas bubbles for sure.

I almost wish they got his tail on the x-ray- he has a super long tail- at least 4 inches.  I love to see bunny tails on x-rays.  But I think they already had their hands full getting him on the plate and making sure they got all of his abdomen.  I head the vet tell the techs to make sure to get ALL his abdomen- and he is such a long rabbit they had to use large plates to make sure when they stretched him out they got it all.

After the x-rays when they brought Griffin back to me he groomed my arm like crazy- it was so cute.  He does groom me- but not that devotedly- he was really scrubbing my arm with his little tongue.

Wow, that is such a beautiful picture, in its own way. Never seen an xray of a bun before. It’s pretty amazing. Their rib cages are so delicate.

Glad to hear Griffin is feeling better! Lemony has a really long tail too, he is half English lop. Maybe it is an English lop thing.

That’s great! So the gas bubbles — are they the dark spots throughout the intestines?

Yep- the dark “bubbles” in the lower half of Griffin’s body are the gas bubbles in his intestines.

The long tail is an English Lop thing- they have long tails that because of their length sometimes get broken- which there is nothing you can do about- but it will disqualify them from show.  I don’t show and never will- but I found it interesting about their tails.  I guess their tails are just kinda floppy if broken.  And I also learned that when he was young- watching to tail to see if he was going to potty during his time out did not work at all as he is more expressive with his tail anyway.

                      The xrays are cool.

Spockie, a mini rex, had a long tail, but Sammy the English Spot has a wee one.

Those are great X-Rays, very neat u can see the microchip & the gas LOL… I wish i could show the X-Ray of Bo’s with his first impaction, it’s just amazing. I also had one of a rabbt i had with a spinal fracture, the spot was SO small, it was the calcium build up around the injury that really showed the spot to the old fracture.
