Was wondering if any of you feed organic to your bunnies…

I eat organic in my home and I am giong to a farmers market at the end of this month and you can plant your own veggies in a pot. I was thinking of planting some stuff for the new bunny!!

I fed her an organic banana the other day. I’m planting a garden, so hopefully we’ll all get to eat organic, rabbit and humans alike. I planted lettuce, spinach, cilantro, basil, and peppers, etc. but only the spinach and lettuce have come up so far.

She was running around outside while I was weeding the other day. She kept hopping up while my back was turned and eating the leaves. Then I’d scoot her away and try to convince her to eat the dandelions, of which we have tons now that we keep the yard a spray-free playground for her. No dice, which is puzzling seeing as how I once caught her eating a giant cobweb.

*Edit: Not the whole banana. Just a bit.

I don’t buy the organic veggies at the grocery store for them because they’re so expensive. However, when fresh local veggies are available in a month most of their veggies will be both organic and local from the farmer’s market. I hope to have a bunny garden when we finally own a home!

pixie, that sounds wonderful. You should totally do it! It is much healthier for the buns to eat organic or home-grown.

I buy the organic carrots, complete with tops, cilantro, parsley and sometimes lettuce if its in good shape for them.

My husband and I eat mostly all organic. Therefore I just buy extra for my bunny.

FYI….not all fruits and veggies “should” be organic. If the fruit or veggie is thin skinned (apples, lettuce, etc) then you should try organic. If it is thick skinned (bananas) you usually don’t have to worry about it.

I typically feed regular non-organic veggies- due to how much more of a variety there is and cost factor too.  During the summer I go to the Farmers Market and buy greens and veggies for the bunnies.  I have found some unique types of chard for them like rainbow chard and other varieties that I do not find in the store usually.

Planting a bunny garden is a great idea and very cost effective. I am doing the same. We have planted a big garden at my Mother in Laws house and I am going to plant one at mine as well.

Elrohwen, you don’t have to own your home to plant a garden. You can use pots! There is a lot of gravel under our yard so it will make it very difficult. I am going to use pots instead. That way, I can move them around to sunny areas outside too!
