  Jenna had to have at least 4 teeth removed as they were so diseased. One fell out while they were anesthetizing her. One was a canine too.
  
  They gave her this porphyromonas vaccine too and I’m just reading up now on how bad the side effects are for it. Hub gave them the go ahead without asking me first and I knew when he told me that I was going to wind up regretting it. Jenna is very lethargic, doesn’t really want to eat and just lays about. Not at all her usual self. I am very concerned.
  
  I managed to get her amoxicillin into her a bit ago with about a teaspoon of canned dog food, but I think I’m going to be up all night watching her. This stuff sounds like really bad news.

  Anyone have a small dog they’ve had go through a dental and had this shot? I need to get her to eat and drink, she hasn’t had anything but that tablespoon of food I just gave her for almost 24 hours previous. She feels really warm too. Plus she’d had diarrhea all day before the dental today.
  
  I am really worried. And angry at my usually good vet.

  Wow, I didn’t realize they had a vaccine for porphyromonas for dogs. I don’t know anything about this.

  Keep in mind that she just had dental surgery and her mouth is probably sore, hence the not wanting to eat. If you just had four teeth removed you’d be lethargic too! :0)
  
  I have no idea about that shot. Did they give you any instructions for pain management?

  I was up till 5 this morning watching her. She sure wasn’t herself all night last night and part of this morning…but the rest of today and this evening she is much improved. She licked water off my fingers most of the night and ate a little bit. She’s had more to eat today and we were able to get the metacam in her this morning. She’s a different dog tonight, thank God. I am still pretty steamed at my vet, though.
  She’s not getting the second round of this. I’m not watching her go through that again. My daughter is furious with both the vet, and the previous owner for letting her teeth get to this condition. We’ll just have to do with making sure we clean her teeth thoroughly after eating from now on.
  
  She’s been growling and barking in her sleep when she drops off. Bad dreams I guess. We also got her ‘papers’ in the mail today…all it is is the adoption certificate the lady printed off her computer and the rabies/parvo/distemper vaccine slip. No pedigree papers or anything. No previous veterinary history. If the money we paid for her didn’t go into a rescue, I’d be stomping back there for some recompense.

  Poor baby…Wickett our pomeranian is actually going in to the vet tomorrow, his breath was terrible and we looked, nasty upset tooth. Looks like gum disease. He is 4 years old. My mom said poms are known to get bad teeth? Anywho… Mimz why are we so twinsy lately? Bad toes – dogs with bad teeth. Hmmm…so strange. How old is Jenna btw? (((vibes for Jenna))) Hope she feels even better tomorrow!

  She is roughly 2-3 years old. And whatever you do, don’t let them talk you into that damned vaccine…it is not good for any dog, but most especially the little ones! *nods*
  I’ll keep Wickett in my prayers for a good visit tomorrow! ((((((((((hugs for doggy)))))))))))))
