So the lady we get eggs from has quite a few bunnies. (She breeds for show, but this is not going to be a post about that.) My hubby happened to be returning some equipment he’d borrowed from her husband, and got to see this adorable little peanut bunny that is now an incredible 4 weeks old. He offered to take me to see it and, not being able to resist really, I went and took my cameras.
Here are a few pix…it was SO precious. I have never held a baby bunny before, so it was such a shock to have it just sit in my hand and accept any and all noserubs from me and not squirm and try to jump away.
SO tiny! I realize it is a miracle that it’s survived this long, and no guarantee that it will live many years, if at all, but I wanted to share it with you. SO cute! ![]()

This is a picture of the peanut and one sibling…HUGE compared to it, really!

I also held a few other baby bunnies, but they peed on me, so….no pix of them…lol.
I have a small video of the baby crawling on my hubby’s hand, but uploading even 30 seconds takes hours, so I have to crop it and pray my dial-up can crank it out. It won’t be today.
Oh Lord! Look at that little baby!
He offered to take me to see it
Your hubby did what?! Is he still whacked out on dental meds or something? j/k I mean how did you guys go there and not leave with a bunny to take home?!
Awwwww baby! I agree with JG.. he MUST be on some nice meds! lol.
Poor little baby, its so cute. Almost Monkey sized!
Aww poor baby! He’s adorable! It’s great that he’s made it this long – it’s a testament to that breeder really, to have nursed him through this long. Well… then again, it could be the bunny’s momma doing all the care taking… Hope he stays healthy! ![]()
Yeah, well…I really had a hard time putting the baby back…trust me, it’s not the hub who needs the good meds to do that! 0_o
But omg…so many bunnies. Really. Loppies, rexes, Flemmies. She has plenty of room for them, thank goodness, but I guess her total cleaning, feeding, spending time regimen takes hours. It really puts my three in perspective.
And yet, I don’t see even one who looks neglected in any way. Their coats are shinier than any of mine. Their eyes bright and healthy. NOT ONE CASE OF SORE HOCK on any of the rexes. She must be superwoman to bring up the brood she has. She’s apparently placed best of show repeatedly.
But yeah…the hub says no more bunnies. And even the ‘family dog’ thing has turned to ‘daughter’s dog’ entirely.
And of course, now she is ogling a Yorkshire Terrier that she wants to bring home. We’re going to see it tomorrow, if the rescue calls us back with directions.
Such tiny ears!
OMG! I want!!! I want!!! I really want to kiss his little head! I’ve never held a baby bunny before either and I am dying to!!!
Oh and for the record…Yorkies are great little dogs! My Mom has a 6 month old, 3 pounder and I just love him to bits. Might take a while to socialize a Yorkie to bunnies though since it’s originally a ratter. Mom’s has never met mine (I won’t let him) because he chases around my cats like an idiot ![]()
Soooooo cute and sweet.
Is it still a Peanut if it’s that healthy? It looks like it’s out of the woods now. Great Bunny Mom. The other baby is adorable, too.
Hubby says no more bunnies than comes back to get you to take you to see peanut and bevvy of baby bunnies. Yeah, right. He’s 90% water and 10% hot air.
How far is she from your house? I’m picturing you getting out to volunteer at her place once a week to help with the bunnies. What a fix. ![]()
Aww he is so cute! In Fern’s litter there was apparantly a penut baby but it did not last that long. I got to see all the precious baby holland lops when i went to choose the bunny I wanted, they were younger than eight weeks then, so I just booked Fern and took her home later! It was very tempting to take home more than one!

Anyone watch Spongebob before? Well this statement reminded me of when Plankton was analyzed and his ingredients were 1% evil and 99% hot gas.
i LOVE the peanuts in the litter ^w^
so so cute!! i wanna take him home with me!!
the breeder that your talking about sound totally awesome. i cant wait for this summer so i can go to the state fair and see all the bunnies in the show. i’m gonna get contact information from all of the breeders so can keep in touch with them
That is amazing he has survived so long. I wish him the best life possible.
omg IT LOOKS LIKE A LITTLE MONKEY! sNUGGLEZ!
So adorable. Just wanted to point out the MAJOR disapproval of the grey sibling in the second picture, lol.
MM, I think you should box that peanut baby up for me and send it down here. Just far too adorable.
Just be sure it won’t get lost amongst the packing peanuts. ^
I can’t stop coming back to look at it! MM, I’d cook every meal with eggs this week so you’ll have to go get some more.
I was thinking I might help her with her bunnies….but not sure I will have the time immediately, because we got the Yorkie and she is adjusting to life at home with us.
If you want to see her, please see my thread, “I’m a Grand-doggie!” in the lounge.
She’s the daughter’s dog, so currently I’m only staying up when she cries at night until we can get her situated in her room…but she’s settling in quite nicely. She’s a little needy, but that’s to be expected.
No contact with bunnies. Period. She is sweet, but I’m not taking the chance. Dog does great with the cats, but I don’t need more grey hairs. That’s why I kept getting up, I can’t close my door at night and I expected the dog would try to leap over the barrier. As it was she only tried that once last night and then never again. Hub is also up a lot at night, so he helps too, but daughter is very jealously protective of her new pup. NO ONE is supposed to bond with her for at least the first two weeks till she becomes primary caregiver. But even she needs sleep at night. Poor thing was exhausted and her insomnia finally took a hit.
Plus my girl keeps talking about moving out soon, so when she finishes her GED, she will take the dog with her. Which is fine with me.
Bleah…should’ve put this in the other thread. Meh…I’ll copy and paste it out later. Need a nap now.
Monkey, I’m certain even I couldn’t have parted that peanut from the breeder. She obviously loved on it so much (plus had time to do that with all the other bunnies!) and it was such a nice change to see the difference from folks who just think buns are disposable, especially if handicapped.
