I’m going to get Noah spayed in May. So I need advice on how to litter train her afterwards. Unfortunately I have to put her in the living room [[[the biggest room in the house, it’s difficult to keep an eye on her all the time plus she has already peed in several spots in there]]] cause my small bedroom is going to be boiling hot during May and June. The air conditioner is in the living room. What is best? Let her have free run of the living room from day one(after healing of course!) ? Or do I have to restrict her area first and if I see she’s using her litter box let her be in the whole room? But then, even if she uses the litte box in the small area, wont she continue peeing at the spots she used to? Help cause I’m baffled once again

What did you guys did to litter train them afterwards? Put them back at the place they were before? Did they continued marking the old spots or sticked with the litter box in their cage/condo/xpens?

if you clean up the spots with vinegar, the scent shouldn’t remain for her to remark them. I’d keep her in a smaller place for a bit after the spay, for her to become accustomed to where her box is, and that its where she is supposed to go.

Yeah I’ll probably going to have her in the living room at the place she was the last 2 months but restrict with something in the beggining. Now I’m thinking…wouldnt it be better if I do it now? I mean before her spay…this way she will be back at the place she was before, still in the same restricted area. Cause I keep her in my bedroomthe last 2 days(again in a restricted area) and then – after the spay – she will be in the living room. I’m worried she’ll get used to my bedroom and then when she moves back in the living room it will be like she’s once again in a new place and start marking.

Or is it better to bring her in the living room then(after spay)? Because if I restrict the area it wont be a place that she’s marked. All the marked spots are a bit far, and she hasnt done any marking at the area she will be later. What do you suggest? I know that the first month the hormones will be stil there and probably she’ll continue marking.

              wow I confused myself…!

I don’t think it really matters if you restrict her space before the spay – it really only matters after. It will help her heal without running around too much and also should help her realize how to use the litter box.
