› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › Who else has BOXOMANIA! (Crazy about boxes)
My mom always teases me saying I have boxomaina (am obsessed with boxes) because whenever we go to BJ’s I always want to get a box for the bunnies. Does anyone else have this urge? I also find that when I get a good box I am excited and enjoy cutting the holes in it and making it a box house for the bunnies. ![]()
So does anyone else feel excited when they get boxes for their bunnies? I just think it is kind of funny that I get excited when I get BOXES of all things!
EDIT: Oh and I used to stockpile them just in case I needed them ‘later’ but then my mom complained and I had to recycle the ones not in use!
Haha, yeah, I know all about Boxomania. Whenever we get packages at work, I ‘m always so excited and spend a lot of time trying to figure out if the size is alright for me to take them with me on the train without too much hassle. And whenever we go to the supermarket, I always go to the area with thrown-out empty boxes (for carrying your groceries home), and see if I can find some with juuuuust the right measurements…oh yes, and I stockpile as well. So weird to do such a thing
And my parents are so sweet that they don’t bring stuff like flowers et.c for me when they come for a visit, no, they bring cardboard boxes and dandelions ![]()
From the title I thought you might have been referring to a new Wii game or something!
I have Boxomania. Not only that – I also have litter boxomania. With the hidey boxes though, I stuff them up so I’m always looking for renovating material.
On a scale of 1:10, 10 being the most serious case of boxamania, I am an eleven. I realized this, when I woke up to the sound of my neighbor dumping cardboard boxes in my driveway the other morning. I had asked people to collect brown cardboard boxes for me but I didn’t expect such a turn-out.
LOL petzy that is so funny! I am lucky that I can just go to BJ’s and they have this huge thing full of boxes, but my mom only lets me take one at a time!
And whats worse is that after the boxes are too chewed to be a hidy box any more, then I cut them up and keep the cardboard for if i need to block off something to save it from being chewed (it really works).
I call this boxomania because my dad also collects boxes but he collects them because the object that came in the box might break and he would have to send it back in the box to get his money back. He is willing to get rid of them when the warrenty runs out but by then he has forgotten about the box! Well my dad’s family brothers and mother called this boxomania because my dad’s dad also had boxomaina!
You have an excuse then, Moonlight, it’s in your genes! LOL.
Moonlight…I should take you to work with me and show you all the boxes we get…EVERYDAY! I have to constantly try not to look at them because I can picture bunny mansions in them. The only thing stopping me from taking 10+ home everyday is that they wont fit in my mustang! I am a boxomaniac in denial? lol
Lintini, you know you can flatten them, right?
hehehe!
With all the (online) shopping I have done…boxes are a fact of life. My cats get to them first though, especially Griffy.
Our favorite box story is how, back when we first brought her home, Pip once flipped a Snapple box over on herself and my daughter was thinking she’d made a jailbreak…until she’d seen the box slowly scooting across the floor of her pen. ^_^
When hub was in business, he brought home huge boxes about every other night (he made pizzas and bought the pre-made doughs) so we have a ton of them here, but they’re all filled with junk. >_<
I work at retail, so I try to get boxes with the paper tape and rip it off. I will use my box cutter to make holes and circles and write “Koucha” on the box cover a square.

Haha it seems like I am not the only one with boxomania! I guess it is in my genes petzy your right!
Right now I have a stack of about 10 boxes in my mudroom. I have not yet planned the buns next bunny house yet.
But, the biggest box is plain brown – this is really great cause I will get to paint it after I come up with a design! You know shutters and flowers and stuff.
Yes, I have issues. Boximania among them.
Boxes…YES I love boxes! But I love them so much because my rabbits love them so much so it’s really there fault! My living room always has a couple of hidey boxes for run time and all 3 of my buns adore their boxes in their cages. They all sleep in them.
My bf used to work at a restaurant and they always had boxes the perfect size to fit in my buns’ cages. I would call Ricky and place an order for lettuce boxes and frozen chicken breast boxes when my buns’ boxes got too shabby and chewed up. When he got a new and much better job my first thought was “where am I gonna get the right sized boxes now?”. ![]()
Ok, you are all gonna hate me but…
My uncle is a VP of a box factory so I can get any sized box anytime. Unfortunately it is lost on me because my buns like the pre-made types of boxes. If I get a box and cut holes in them they just look at me like Im stupid. Only the Maze Haven and Cottage houses here.
Nice thing is though for my business I get all the boxes I need for free so in this case it works out great to have access to free boxes. If it was easy to ship boxes I would send you all boxes! ![]()
If I get a box and cut holes in them they just look at me like Im stupid.
lol
Lol guess what i just saw? An add for boxes on one of the advertisements on Binky bunny!
I work in a hospital and we have an unlimited supply of boxes. There is even a room called the box room – where they break the boxes down.
Last week I saw the biggest box ever – it was 10 feet x 8 feet! It wouldn’t fit in a car, but a car would fit in it!!
I’m always looking for bunny toys in the box room and the recycling room – paper towel rolls, newspapers, phone books, ect.
oh my goodness i get the exact same urges at BJs! they just have this mountain of boxes and i just wanna take a couple home but mom always tells me NO and slaps me on the wrist ;3;
I must admit I am jealous of this “boxomania!” Hatter doesn’t really care for boxes.
He has a box that I think he may have gone in twice. I did just get him the Cottontail Cottage that he went crazy for….can that kinda count??? Heehee
oh i totally understand boxomania. MJ’s favorite toys are his boxes. in fact, that’s really the ONLY thing he’ll play with. he’ll spend hours destroying boxes so i’m always on the lookout for fresh boxes.
Today, after 2 years of working at the same place looking at tons of boxes in the back being recycled….I brought one home for the first time. Bee and Indy are busy playing in it right now lol!
I collect boxes.. but for different reasons. Both me and my mom.. we both like having tons of little boxes around to wrap presents in
I have a box full of little empty boxes int he closet lol. My hubby teases me about it whenever I add a new one to the big box ![]()
I admit I stalk the shipping room at work, looking for all sizes. People come back to my office and see one and start guessing. Piggy house? bunny hideaway? combo hidey/step to reach the upper level? temp litter box?
Each week I get a paper box for the piggies and cut a door at each end and a small window on each wall. By the end of the week it’s become an open patio with picture windows all around.
Boxes are so very useful! I think it makes sense that all of us love them. I mean they are so useful and by using them we are recycling in a way, and once my bunnies are finished with the boxes i recycle them again, so its like double recycling!
Agreed, boxes have endless applications for their use.
–I got a very nice batch of boxes recenly, ones that were in very good shape. I put them up as ‘cardboard tiles’ on my walls around my rabbit pen. The basement walls are unfinished and extremely unsightly. I haven’t been to the city to get a rabbit-theme wallpaper; I want something funny like a veggie-print one, if it exists, or anything bunny. For the interim, I stapled the flat cardboard to the wall studs to cover them. It looks like my rabbits are living in a giant box. This is boxomania, isn’t it? ![]()
lol… boxomania… how about shredded paper-o-mania? does that count? i get all the bags of shredded paper that my office produces and deliver it to the local shelter or take it home for pinky. then i stuff it in a box ![]()
Moonlight…I thought of you last night. I had to take away their box!!! They were chewing and digging in it all night, so I put it on my end table so they couldn’t do that and keep me awake. They both sit on top of it and chew/dig…I am so waiting for when they fall through the top. They are such dorks!
a fellow coworker/friend is also a bunny owner.. so we trade ideas off and are constantly looking for boxes at work.. to cut unique shapes into ![]()
Glad I’m not alone!
I work at a coffee shop, so when we get shipments in I get to keep the boxes. There’s three boxes in Snap’s x-pen right now, he loves them! He used to sleep in them as a baby, but his to big for that now (plus he never sleeps it seems! He has soooooooooooooo much energy). I also use them to block of things, so he can’t tear it up. Oh! I also lay one under his litter-box so litter won’t get everywhere. It makes cleaning it out easier.
LOL petsy! That is major boxomania! Imagine if you taped all those boxes together and cut holes in them so the bunnies could travel throughout the boxes, to the top of the towers and all around the room through the boxes. It would be like a giant Maze haven!! That would be awesome!
Babybunsmum, that must be very useful to have shredded paper around for you to use, do you use it to put in their diggy boxes or do you use it as litter? I tried using it for litter at one point, but then Fern kept eating it (this was before I got the grid I put over my litter) so I took it away. I do have shredded paper in their diggy box and guess what else I have in there….. shredded boxes!
Haha Lintini, my bunnies love chewing and digging their boxes, but mostly they like to chew when they are inside the box, and it does make a lot of noise!
