        i noticed it a while ago but i couldnt find the area again until today when i accidentally brushed my hands over the area.

        my bun has this…lump. on his lower side. at first i thought it was a bloated tick because thats exactly what it felt like but when i got my mother to look at it, it was actually a bump. any ideas what it could be? hope thats not some symptom of cancer or anything

          I would suggest a physical examination by a vet – it’s so hard to know what lumps are just based on a post like this.

          I’ve had a few rabbits with lumps and I always err on the side of caution and have my vet examine and aspirate them and remove them. Of course there is a difference between a lump and and an abscess too so that’s why a vet is a total must on this.

              A vet visit is imperative. It could be nothing, but you want to be sure. Take it from a 5 year cancer survivor.
              I think BB’s bun, Jack has some kind of ‘fatty cyst’ that feels lump like, so try not to freak out in advance over what it might be. I’ll put down some ‘let no bad happen’ vibes for your dear bun. (((((((((((((((((((((((Sani’s bun)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Keep us posted!

              It’ll be okay, whatever it is, we’re here to help.

                hmm… so a visit to the vet is absolutely necessary. *sigh* they are totally gonna rob me <A<
                shadow, you arent suppose to get sick!!! D:<

                thanks for the advice everyone. ^^

                  I’ve had bunnies with odd lumps before. Bailey had a strange lump on her ear that was never fully figured out (returned even after it was surgically removed). Jack has some fatty (old age lumps) but they are not cancerous and do not inhibit movement or cause problems. But in each case, I had these lumps checked, because really…there’s no way to no what is harmless and what isn’t. Vet can be pricey, but you are paying for their expertise. I think the important part —- and money-saving aspect, is to find a rabbit-savvy vet so you don’t have to go through treatment after treatment, test after test. (though that can still happen with rabbit-savvy vets too – it’s just that at least you know you are getting the right treatment and not wasting money)

                  Do you have a vet you trust with rabbits? rabbits are actually considered exotic because of they way they react to certain treatments and procedures and most vets actually have to get extra training for this. (which is why they can be a bit more expensive)

                  Anyway, if you have a rabbit-savvy vet— Yeah! If not, maybe we can help you find one.

                    Hey Sani? Any update? Were you able to get a vet visit lined up? Is the lump still there?

                      @BinkyBunny
                      well that makes me feel a little better knowing that lumps arent that uncommon. o-o i dont know if my vet is good with bunnies. i only take shadow there when theirs something wrong with him (and that was like 3 times)
                      thank you for the advice

                      @MimzMum
                      his appointment for the vet is tomorrow at 10:30am. i have to decide what to put him in. my doggie carrying case of just hold him in a towel. choices =w=

                        If you have a small cat or dog carrier that would be better than just a towel. You don’t want him leaping from your arms suddenly, that can be very dangerous.
                        You can put his favorite bedding and toys in the carrier. If your dog usually travels in it, you must clean it thoroughly since doggy poopies can have toxins or parasites that can travel to bunnies.
                        How large is it, btw?

                          yeah i was leaning more towards carrier too. it pretty much spotless because we only used it twice on neiko and that was years ago. he never pooped or pee’d in it. the case itself isnt that big but shadow usually feels safer in my lap. it will be the first time he uses the carrier

                            we just got back from the vet. he said it was probably just a cyst from old age (there were actually two lumps)
                            he was impressed by how old shadow was and said he had a nice weight so that made me so very happy. ^-^

                            anyway he just told me to watch the lumps and only be concerned if they double in size

                              Well I’m glad to hear it’s good news! How old is Shadow? I don’t think I’ve ever asked before.

                              And just curious, the vet didn’t feel a need to test these lumps? No needle aspiration or anything like that?

                              Did he ride well in the carrier?

                                hes 6 years old. when i got him from the breeder as a baby she told me that the mini rex’s lifespan was only 5 years. i checked online not too long ago to find out that the actual lifespan is 10 years.
                                shadow didnt like the carrier very much. he kept climbing on the door and stuff (but i kept him in there). when we got in examination room i let him out so he could explore the room

                                the vet didnt feel the need to give shadow a needle. he just felt over the lumps put pressure on them and stuff like that but in the end he said they probably werent important. It was cute because the whole time shadow was trying to climb on the vet. he didnt like sitting on the slippery table and wanted to be picked up xD

                                i asked my mom if our vet was rabbit savvy and she said he was a very good vet. he even treats horses, cows, and chickens
