Hello! It’s been a while since I posted, but something has started happening concerning our male rabbit and his peeing habits and we are completely confused by it.

So, our male Chibi has been separated from our female Pixel for a while now as she was being aggressive before her spaying, that has been sorted now and they are going through the bonding process again. Today we noticed that Chbi has decided to pee in odd places around his cage. He’s still using his litter box, but is also peeing in the opposite corner and along the woodwork at the back of his hutch. He’s never done this before, he learned to use his litter box pretty much right away when we got him.

Is there any way we could suggestively stop this from happening, or is there any reason why this may be happening?

        Thanks! x

Have you had a vet check to make sure that this is not due to a urinary tract infection?

Definately look into health concerns 1st. Then toward behaviour. Where would you say you are at in the bonding process? It may be he is marking as they do during bonding. Usually with poo but sometime urine aswell. Is Chibi also neutered?

Ditto Jersey. My first thought was marking as well. Especially if he isn’t neutered.

We will look into taking him to the vet for a check up. Chibi is neutered, we have just started having them together during the day and separate cages at night, yesterday. He has used his litter box a little, but is still opting for peeing up against the side of his hutch instead.

Sound like spraying and territorial type behaviour.
