› FORUM › THE LOUNGE › The small-talk thread
Well, I don’t know if you guys are up for it? I hang out quite a bit on a dog forum where there is a small-talk thread for every month, and I think the idea is great. It is such a great way to post thoughts, pictures or stories about the bunnies or whatever just happened today when you went shopping – simply just small-talk. An ongoing conversation. And when a new month begins, a new thread is created.
Sometimes the bunnies have done something funny or something is going on in my life which I would like to share, but then I think it seems a bit too much to create a new thread just about this, so I simply let it be. And I am sure that I cannot be the only one feeling like this?
Up for it?
Sounds fun!
I have a few things that happened today. Well actually it was last night, I broke down and ordered a Dyson Animal (the ball one) on Amazon because they offered 6 months no interest if you signed up for their credit card. I went ordered it and then went back to look at it again and the price went down $15!! It was $494 and went down to $480 (org. $599)! So I canceled my order and reordered it
Can’t wait to use it, my old one just can’t cut all the shedding.
This morning I received their 10 lb bag of pellets and I left it in their room and it was crackling and that must have scared Archie because he thumped until I opened and emptied it out ![]()
Is it better than a regular hoover then?
I hoover almost every day…I’ve really considered buying one of those robot hoovers, Roomba Pet. But I am not sure how they cope with carpets.
Haha, not sure if Archie was scared – probably just really upset by the fact that you hadn’t opened the bag for him! I’ve been working from home today, and it is usually really nice to spend all the time with the bunnies, but they are hyperactive and a real pain these days. It’s like this Easter holiday has gotten them all hyper. I guess they are used to sleeping while we are at work, and then since we have been home all day for the past week, their daily rhytmn has turned upside down and now they are like on drugs or something. They are glued to our feet, jump on our laps when we sit down on the couch, and Molly managed to break an expensive cup today, chewing holes in our bean bag, eat a plant and someone has peed on the rug. It’s been very stressful to be at home ![]()
I love getting deals!
I am off to work soon… and it will be my days off the next couple of days. I can’t wait for that!
When I came back from my walk today, my bunny was inside of her pink igloo. I stuck my head in it to see what she was up to, and she flung one of her wooden blocks at my glasses LOL!!!!! I guess she wanted to be left alone!
Gotta clean up the room tomorrow -_- … I’m not looking forward to that!
LOL, that sounds funny ![]()
Lol. Funny stories guys. I love getting good deals too!
My friend and I spent a few hours outside yesterday from about 12:30 to 3:30…. I got burnt to a crisp! I did have sunscreen, but didn’t put it on immediately, so I guess I got burnt before I put the sunblock on. And I didn’t realize i got burnt until I was going home…. We were laying outside, studying, and I was in a bikini…. so my entire back, the backs of my legs, and my shoulders are completely red and SO painful. It hurts to walk, much less sit down! I’ve already gone through more than half of a big bottle of aloe vera, and I tried everything last night to stop the stinging… I soaked wash clothes in milk and put them on my shoulders/back… I sat in a cool tub of water and green tea… and lots of tylenol. Anyway, the backs of my legs are already starting to peel (gross, I know!) so hopefully that means I’ll feel better tomorrow?
Sigh.
And my bunnies make me sigh… I keep the bunnies’s pellets in tuppperware containers, and the other morning, I fed Leroy in my bedroom (I feed them separately – Jeannie eats in the living room) and put the container on the chest at the foot of my bed. I didn’t put the lid on b/c I couldn’t find it, and I was in a hurry to get showered and get to class. So I forgot about the lidless container of pellets… 15 minutes later I go back into my bedroom, and find Leroy in the middle of a pile of pellets, gorging himself! I think he ate 3x his normal morning ration, so I didn’t give him his dinner or his breakfast the next morning ![]()
Bttw, I think this amll-talk thread is a great idea! I;ve often had those moments of “ooo I wish I could share this, but it’s not big enough to start a new thread!”
Hehe. One suggestion would be to put the month in the subject line, so it’s easy to tell which small-talk thread goes with which month.
Ooo…I want to buy a new vac!
I just came back from school after my music history class, I’m heading back over in 30min for symphonic band. We are sight reading a bunch of new music for the quarter. I made a pretty drastic lifestyle change last night. I called it quits on World of Warcraft where I was leading a guild that was doing really well but it was sucking my soul out from me dealing with everyones problems and drama. I was in charge of about 45 people and after a year of being the guild master, I said goodbye and uninstalled the game. I’ve been playing since 2004 when the game came out and it’s taken a lot…A LOT of my free time and has hurt my school work occasionally. It’s kinda like a job really…anyways, I’m done with it…It hurts atm, I’ve been playing with a lot of those people for a very long time now and ….well….I’ll be okay. Change is good!!!
Ooo, another forum that I’m on has a small talk thread and I spend most of my time there!
Busy day for me today – cleaning cages at the bunny rescue, dropping some homemade maple syrup off to a friend, checking out carriers at petstores, then vet trip for Hannah. The rescue lady had someone clean half my cages for me to give me extra time, but it just meant I got to vet more than 30 minutes early. Oh well.
Now Hannah is recovering from her molar spurs! I really really hope this isn’t an on-going issue with her 🙁
Lintini, good for you for quitting! I’ve never liked WoW for the way it takes over people’s lives. It’s one thing to play a video game in spare time, but I remember when my friends couldn’t come out with us because they had a raid scheduled at 7pm.
Oh, and by the way, why is it so hard to find a good pet carrier? I’ve been to 3 pet stores now and haven’t found what I want.
Otto has a little cat sized carrier with a top opening lid and I love it. I want to get something similar but in a bigger size to fit both buns, but haven’t had any luck. Hannah’s existing carrier is large enough, but it’s floppy nylon and pretty annoying to use. And Otto is a carrier-peer, so I need something hard plastic. All of the hard plastic ones at the petstores don’t have a top door 🙁 Or if they do, they look ugly and cheaply made compared to the ones without the top doors. Maybe I’ll just have to order online.
eta: I found a nice one online that should be available in the petstore. It’s $10 cheaper online, but shipping is $10 … Grr. Why do pet carriers need to be $50?
The vac is suppose to arrive next week so I’ll let you guys know how it compares. I have a Bissell (2 years old) and it’s hard to get around some of the furniture and just doesn’t seem to pick up all the fur. Gotta fix supper; hot dogs.
I’ve heard the Dyson Animal is awesome.
Do you have mostly carpet? Or mostly hardwood? We have hardwood mostly and I like it. It’s hard to sweep bunny fur, but I can aim the vacuum hose at the fur and suck it right up. It kind of gets ground into the carpet.
And think goodness we have leather sofas! No bunny hair on the furniture.
I know I got a larger size cat carrier (with top opening) at Petsmart – look on-line for Petsmart.
I’ll look there. I went to an actual PetSmart today, but they didn’t really have anything, so I’ll look online. Petco was the one I was looking at that was $39 online, and $49 in the store (but I don’t think I saw that one actually in the store). I might just have to suck it up and pay $50 since I can’t seem to find anything much cheaper.
Elrwohen, here’s a link to the Petmate carrier – you want the intermediate size – maybe Petco can order one for you.
http://www.petmate.com/Products/Double-Doo…21817.aspx
Ooo, I did see that one today, but only in the little size. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for it in the medium size.
I know the medium will fit two smaller rabbits comfortably. I can fit my 2 dutches in the medium just fine but prefer to use the one just one size up. Look in the cat section for these.
Hannah’s current carrier is the medium size and both buns would definitely fit in it easily.
A good carrier is worth the price especially if it has the top opening.
So true. The top opening is the best! They should put them on every carrier.

We have mostly carpet. We have lament in the dinning room and kitchen…which we get “tumble weed fur” floating along the floor
I really wanted this sweeper because we’re been shooting around the idea of maybe starting a family next year (we’ll see
) and babies pick up everything with their little hands…people would confuse our kid for a monkey
A little scared at how the bunnies would react to a kid…hmmm…
I can’t even think about how much cleaning of the floor I’d have to do if I had a baby. Haha.
I have 2 carriers with the top opening.. a mini one for Monkey, and a larger one for Moose. Got em from Petco, they are the Dog Whisperer brand. I took off all the Dog Whisperer stickers tho >.>
Oh, those come off? I really liked those carriers, but I don’t want to advertise for Cesar Milan because I am so not a fan 😛 It looked like the logos were permanent, but I didn’t look very close. I may have to go back and check them out again!
Yeah, they peel right off lol. Wouldn’t have bought them if they didn’t ![]()
It looked like a glued on logo, but I didn’t actually take the carrier down from the shelf to check. Ok, I’m probably going to get one of those. They had a ton. Thanks for the recommendation!
On a different note, Monkey has decided to redecorate her pen. With poopies. Went in there and she had lined an entire wall of the pen about 3 inches wide with poopies. And it isn’t even the wall towards Moose. Silly girl.
It was just in case he was thinking of sneaking in from that side.
hehehe… he wouldn’t fit. The side she was pooping on is right up against a wall
Guess she thinks Moose is a ninja.
I swear bunnies are ninjas. They sneak up on those furry feet and you never see them coming.
Sigh, yes they are ninjas! Lol, silly monkey bun!
I have tripped over both of my bunnies several times because they sneak up behind me!
Every time I walk by Monkey, or go into the kitchen, she starts dancing around thinking I have a treat for her. Silly girl. Its cute tho ![]()
Speaking of furry feets…
When I came home this afternoon, this is how I found them… hehe. And then when I went to let them out, I think Jeannie forgot her feet were hanging off, and instead of leaping down gracefully like usual, she fell into the litter box below! Poor baby! Oh and please don’t mind their dirty litter box below their platform… tday is litter box cleaning day ![]()

And another, just becasue I love his squishy tummy!

Lol, MB, Leroy and Jeannie do that too! And they usually get some veggies or something, becasue they’re so cute~
Well I had an interesting bunny day today… Pacey my little lionhead you know lots of fur on the head managed to get his entire head wrapped in heavy duty tape the stuff that once you stick it to something it takes forever to get it loose… Yep that’s Pacey for you if he didn’t get into something daily I would be worried. I don’t know where he got it or how he got it unrolled enough to wrap his whole head in it. It took 8 hours and some kind of stinky solution from the vet and a very unhappy bunny but it is off. And now I get the pleasure of trying to give Pacey’s head a bath.
Aww poor Pacey! Did you take any pictures… I bet he looked pretty goofy. But I’m glad you were able to get the tape off!
I would pay money to see Pacey’s head wrapped up in tape.
LOL, poor Pacey! He is quite the klutz that’s for sure. More vibes to little Pacey.
I’d pay to tickle Jeannie’s toes and Leroy’s tummy ![]()
which we get “tumble weed fur” floating along the floor
I call them Rumballweeds at my place!
@ Elrohwen: have you seen those pet cargo Cabrio carriers? Also, you made mayple syrup? Never knew you could do this! How do you go about it?
Pix of Jeannie & Leroy so sweet – had to laugh at Jeannie taking opportunity to sniff Leroys butt there though! lol
And Pacey……Oh Pacey!
Jers, it’s actually my husband’s boss who makes his own maple syrup and then sells it to us 😛 My friend wanted a bottle so I got one for her and delivered it.
He has a lot of property, so he goes out and finds a few sugar maples. You put a tap in them and wait. The best times to collect are when you have freezing nights, but warmer days, and it makes the sap flow (this year has been bad, because it went from feezing all the time to being warm – we didn’t have many cold nights/warm days this year). It’s very watery, so you have to boil the water out to thicken it. He makes a very light colored syrup by putting it on top of his wood stove and letting it gradually boil the water away. He’ll also make big batches over a wood fire to get the smokey darker syrups. I think it’s something like 40 gallons of sap make 1 gallon of finished syrup (but each tree can put out a few gallons of sap, so he only taps about 5 trees total). It’s really extremely simple – it’s just kind of labor intensive.
I’m not much of a maple syrup fan, but his is waaayyy better than anything I’ve bought at a grocery store (it’s even better than the expensive real stuff at the store). Oh, he also sells eggs from his chickens, which are delicious! He’s working on his own little farm 😛
Oh, and I remember seeing those Cabrio carriers, but not in the local stores. I’ll have to search online.
MB, if you came to visit, I wouldn’t even make you pay!
Jersey… Yeah, Jeannie is so inappropriate, lol.
Speaking of carriers, I’ve I bought this one for the bunnies.
It is supposed to hold 10 kg. and altogether Molly, Karl and Jack should weigh about 7 kg. Nevertheless, there is definitely only room for 2 bunnies! I don’t even think that the dog on the picture looks like it will be comfortable when the bag is closed.
But I love it .Now, it is no longer a pain to go to the vet. I just put two of them in this bag and then I’m off on my bike ![]()
I can recommend it!
And then to real-life moaning: how I hate my job. I am so closed to just quiting, but there aren’t many jobs here where we have moved to (never really has been), and if I quit we have to put our house plans on hold for a while. But at least we would be able to get the dog we keep talking about! And which we are going to Greece in 3 weeks time to pick out. Yeah. It will be so exciting.
That’s such a cute carrier! Hannah was in her carrier for hours yesterday and didn’t pee at all. Otto pees the second he gets in. *sigh* No nylon for Otto-man. But I would love to get a carrier like that one!
Sorry your job sucks 🙁 I know what that is like. And what unemployment is like. Not fun in general!
I was unenmployed for a period of 4 months about 3 years ago and I remember how miserable and frustrated I was back then…so not sure, if it really will be as great as I am imagining right now.
Good thing that Hannah did not pee in the carrier. But if she does, I think it is okay. I actually like that they mark the carrier, so it has a nice familiar smell the day they are scared and are carried to and from the vet. Look at it that way ![]()
Mmmm, nice familiar pee smell! 😛
I think Otto’s a fear peer, rather than marking. It’s like “Oh my goodness! I’m locked in and being picked up!!” *pee*
Ahhh good ol’ Otto the coward
Moosie is the same way. He’s a big baby. He did brave the kitchen floor one day for a piece of papaya, but high-tailed it out as fast as he could waddle. He wouldn’t hop on the linoleum like normal, he did a duck waddle thing ![]()
Alright, then that is definitely not a good smell. Poor boy. When I introduced the first carrier, I threw a bunch of raisins in it and left it for a few days. Unfortunately, I cannot do this with the new carrier. But have you tried this?
By the way, can you guess Molly’s new favourite taste: tabasco! She keeps jumping on our dinning room table (we’ve gotten into a real bad habit lately to eat in front of the tv!) to look for food. There was tabasco on the table the other day and my boyfriend told me to let her sniff, so she would learn it once and for all. But she actually licked it!!! Then the day after, we were tired of her chewing the floor plant and we covered it in tabasco…who do you think licked it off? Yes, Molly. And now she has just jumped on the table again to lick the tabasco bottle. It really cannot be good for her. I don’t understand why she likes it.
I did try to get him used to it, but I didn’t try hard enough and he learned to hate it. He initially went right in on his own out of curiousity, but would pee as soon as I picked it up. Then it got to the point where he wouldn’t go in at all. He’s fine if I leave it in his pen and he’ll even sleep in it, but as soon as I show up and act like I *want* him in it, he’s out like a shot.
Funnily enough, in the week we’ve been doing bonding sessions, he’s been so good about his carrier! Now I set it down and nudge him towards it and he goes right in and I take him upstairs. Before he would run and run until I threw a blanket over him and picked him up. And he’s been peeing in it much less too. Go figure. I thought having to bond every day would make him worse with the carrier, considering he still thinks Hannah is going to beat him up. He also lets me pick him up to move him quickly without struggling!
Love Molly and the tabasco. She’s a spicy bunneh!
Funny carrier story: one time we were taking Otto to our friends’ house for bunny sitting. I put down some newspaper in the carrier, but I didn’t pad it up with papertowels and a blanket like usual. We stopped for gas about 5 minutes from the house and I notice he’s smushed himself up against the carrier door. I open up the top and he has peed *everywhere*. Every single bit of the newspaper is soaked except for a little 2″x2″ area (that he’s trying to sit on) and unabsorbed pee was in the bottom of the carrier under the newspaper. Luckily we had some papertowels with us, so I had to get the newspaper out, clean it up (while he was still in the carrier) and give him some papertowels. Then wash my hands off in the yucky gas station bathroom.
Oh Otto.
What did he do? Save it all up for the carrier? lol
Seriously. He regularly holds it in the house for 12+ hours (with full access to a litter box), so clearly it’s not because he couldn’t hold it anymore.
He’s also peed on hubby’s lap a few times when we would pick him up and hold him on our laps :-P We don’t really do that anymore.
I’m imagining him overhearing a conversation about bunny sitting, so he went and drank a bunch of water and held it til he was in the carrier. Then, he saw what was not his usual standards so let it all out as punishment to you ![]()
Hahahaha. Silly bunnies and their pee.
During bonding the other day, Hannah had to pee. She went to the corner of the tub furthest away from Otto and the hay, discretely peed in the corner, then went back over to Otto. Lol. Clearly she couldn’t hold it, but at least she was polite about it.
Hahaha, I love Hannah! Such a little lady.
LOL poor Otto!
I think Gracie has a nervous bladder; if I pick her up and she hasnt’ gone to bathroom yet as soon as I put her down she’ll pee all over the place. I have to always remember to put her in the litter box if I hold her for too long and put my hand on her so she doesn’t jump out of the litter box and pee (which she has done before). I think Sandy will actually hold her bladder as long as possible (maybe because she’s younger too). We’ve gone to the vet (which is 15 min away) and then came back and put her in her cage and she’d go to the bathroom (hardly ever went in the carrier). Wish all my buns did that. Sandy will only pee in the top left side corner of the litter box too, she will hardly pee anywhere else. I see her go in the box and purposely turn around to her corner and pee haha!
On a side note….I am not liking this Ohio weather. Yesterday it was 80 degrees and today it’s going to be 47 by the end of the day. GRR!
Omg Karla, I love your new siggy picture!! Cuuuuute!!!
Ski, Otto also only pees in one corner of his litter box. He’s so silly. And on a normal day he’ll hold it for 8 hours, but I’ve seen him go more than 12. He’s got some bladder control!
Hannah was in her carrier yesterday from 11am through 3pm and didn’t pee once.
A link to a funny bun video to cheer everyone up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyCQ4weM2-U&feature=player_embedded
Hahahaha. I thought it was just a cute bunny video, until the end when the bunny spills stuff all over the bed. That was so funny.
I could NOT stop giggling my head off!!
Is that possible? LOL
I’m a little bit angry right now..
I have a coworker that is 19.. she is really really immature and short temptered. I guess her boyfriend (he is.. not a friendly guy at all) cheated on her again.. and she had wanted to call in to get the day off.
I’m just really angry that she asked me. Its my first day off of the week and I have plans of my own today. Not only is it last minute, but not a reason to take the day off… :-/ I don’t know if anybody will agree with me, however, working always takes the mind off of things…
Hahaha Brittany, that is why I never pick up my phone unless I know who it is, and I hardly ever pick up when it’s work because I know they are calling to cover a shift because someone called out, and they leave a voicemail and sure enough!! I work with a lot of younger kids too….a 19 year old boy that is obnoxious and careless and lazy. I know how you feel
For example, after our store is closes, doors are locked and so is the drive thru window. It’s policy. The tills and safe are opened- money being counted etc. We have our headsets on still to tell people that try to come through drive-thru that we are closed and to try the store around the corner since they are opened till midnight. Anyways…one night Jake opens the window well after closing time to talk to a customer. I don’t know if any of you know this but the #1 place that coffeshop/fast food places get robbed is people coming into the drive-thru window!!!!! And we are all women working there and you know if someone comes in with a gun we can’t do anything about it. So I start yelling at him and telling him off and he starts back talking me and the supervisor hears us and I am like JAKE, Do not get upset at me when you are going against policy and putting us all at risk, then the supervisor chewed him out as well. Man I can’t stand him. He’s just so stupid and careless. I want to choke him. He thinks he’s superman and nothing bad can hurt him.
Lintini, she actually sent me a text message.
All the coworkers are close, however, not a lot of other workers can stand Jasmine because she is always complaining about how her mom makes her life miserable, how she doesn’t have any money, etc etc. She never gets any of her work done because she is always yapping away and later complains that she didn’t have enough time to get things done, LOL!!
I will be cutting my work hours down when I go to school, about 20 hours a week. So I’ll be happy to not deal with her. I’m the type of person that likes to do her own thing. I don’t like it when people tell me what to do.. LOL.
Besides that, I am good.. tomorrow, I’m going to start my stair stepper
I gained some weight after losing my mom
But today, I’m going to sew my bunny scarf and spend some time with my bun ![]()
You guys make me glad that I don’t work ![]()
Monkey – I just friended you on facebook :o)
I feel guilty for not working but at the same time I like staying at home because my husband isn’t always on the same shift so he likes that whenever he comes home I’m always there. One day something will come along…I’m too picky though. Can’t do computer work because my neck will hurt and my hands are on the verge of carpel tunnel, I hate talking to people esp. on the phone (did that before and 1/2 the people I couldn’t understand haha). If there’s a job where I can just take care of rabbits and watch them all day long them I’m there but unfortunately we don’t have a shelter around my area that has a lot of rabbits. So just have to wait.
Good luck Brittany! And bunnies will always make you feel better…no matter what mood I am in one of mine will do something cute to make me smile.
Bwahaha, well, I like to work. It just annoys me when people don’t do what they are supposed to be. I hate complainers ![]()
Anyways, I finally .. SEWED MY PROJECT!!
The end result…

That’s cool! hehe! Your going to get people ordering one now. btw Chickarooney, you do not need to lose weight!
Lol, it is a scarf made from a book.. so I do not think I can profit off of it ![]()

Omg Karla, I love your new siggy picture!! Cuuuuute!!!
Thanks
It is Molly just two seconds before she falls on her back because she is too eager about the basket. They all really loved that basket and chewed it to pieces. I’ve bought another one last week, but they won’t touch it. I think the wood may have been treated with something.
Oh, I should tell you guys about last night. I was half asleep on the couch when Jack jumped up to be cuddled and sleep on my stomach. Molly was sure that he was getting something good to eat, so she jumped up as well and ended up cuddling up against him on my stomach. Then Karl came, but he was way too energetic and did not want to sleep or cuddle, so he woke the others up and off they went looking for food…but it was really nice until Karl ruined it all ![]()
Are your bunnies constantly hungry as well?? Mine should really learn to eat their hay, so they weren’t always so food fixated. Today we are having a strict hay day. I am a mean bunny mum.
At work…and bored as always.
Awww I want my buns to cuddle and nap with me. Sounds cute!!
Jack loves to cuddle and nap with me…he even loves sleeping in our bed. It is just my guess, but I think it is an age-thing. He is 6 years old and doesn’t want to run around and cause trouble like the two others, who are always on the go. So there is hope for you as well to get your bunnies to cuddle with you
Just wait a few years!
I slept on the floor in Moosie’s pen last night and he slept nearish to me for a bit. He didn’t like the squishyness of my blanket
Tonite I’ll be there again to make sure he’s recovering from the stasis and the meds aren’t doing anything weird to him. Maybe he’ll snuggle, who knows ![]()
I have a sad story for you guys: going to work yesterday, I overheard a colleague on the phone to her daughter saying something like this “You need to feed the bunny today. It was really hungry. No, you need to, it was obvious as I passed by. (..) Well, just do it sometime today”…poor little hutch bunny. Its owner cannot even be bothered to feed it. Bless her/his little soul.
Awww poor thing. Why didn’t that woman feed it as she passed by?? ![]()

Maybe he did actually snuggle up to you all night, but you were sound asleep and didn’t notice ![]()
Nah, I woke up every time he moved or made a noise, I purposely didn’t make my nest very comfortable
Although, he did wake me up at 6:30 am by tickling my nose with his whiskers. He has looong whiskers. hehe

Probably a typical case of parents buying a rabbit for the child and expecting the child to be responsible about all the work involved. And they forget to consider that children quickly loses interest in outdoor hutch pets. So, most likely my colleague doesn’t think of it as such a big deal about the bunny in the garden, and it is not her responsibility to feed it.
How I wish I could rescue all the bunnies I come across!!
So sad
When I wake up, I always go down to see if ChaCha has enough food and water…
It is SUNNY FINALLY in Washington
I woke up extremely late..
After I’m done eating, I’m going to take bunny out for a stroll in the backyard.. I hope she doesn’t get too upset.
Moose snuggled last night
Most of the night he spent sleeping either on my back, or snuggled against my side. Until about 5 am, when he started dancing around binkying over me. Silly man. He stepped on my face a few times… and tickled my ear with his whiskers. He groomed the heck out of my pillow and blanket too lol. Guess he thanked me for watching over him ![]()
Monkey, I am tempted to sleep in my bun’s playpen..
Its fun except for the super early morning binkies on your face lol. I’m not a morning person, but Moose definitely is…
I have fallen asleep before.. and I turned over to see ChaCha sitting there staring at me.. waiting for a pet. Oh my.
My strict hay day yesterday didn’t last very long…my boyfriend has been asking for a while if he could please take the bunnies with him down in the garden we share with the rest of the people in this building. I gave in. And they had such fun, and Jack who had been starving all day because he refuses to eat hay hardly noticed he was outdoors, he was way too busy eating dandelions and grass. But grass is as good as hay, so I guess I didn’t completely give in about their hay day ![]()
I cannot wait to we get our house and own garden so they can run out. They were so excited yesterday.
A breeder contacted me yesterday and asked if we would be interested in getting a puppy in a few months – I love this breed:
We have earlier on decided not to get this breed due to its huge prey instinct, but oh when a breeder actually offers you on, it is difficult to stand ones ground.
Alaskan malamute? Akita?^
Going off topic….Today I went to my Gma’s 90th birthday. She is great! Mother of 14, 30 Grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Was great to be part of the day. Both my Grandmothers are now 90+ My other one is turning 98 next week.
I’m pretty lucky to have them both in my life!
Husky?
My boyfriend wants one of those. Those dogs are pretty, but very very hyper and hard to train.
Wow jerseygirl
Happy Birthday to your grandma!
No, it’s a shikoku, so JerseyGirl was close…it is in family with the akita, but I am back to my senses now. No hunting dog for me and my bunnies
Wow, JG, what a huge family you have! And great to still have your grandparents, that must be so nice. And nice to know that you genetically are likely to live a looooong life
By the way, I bought the UTI Free for Jack. He has been on it for 2-3 days now. He is still on the antibiotics, but I am looking forward to see the results.
And nice to know that you genetically are likely to live a looooong life
haha….I don’t know. Someone said today to a few of us ” where will you be when you’re 90?” It was a tricky question for me. I don’t know if I want to live that long. It really depends on what this world will be like. Or maybe my attitude about life hey!
By the way, I bought the UTI Free for Jack. He has been on it for 2-3 days now. He is still on the antibiotics, but I am looking forward to see the results.
Oh good! I’m seriously considering trying this. Jersey is turning my hair grey. I keep making excuses for her “maybe she has a UTI after all” But really, she’s just a baaaaaaad bunny. lol. Actually, it’s more like I’m just a dense bunny care-taker person thingy.
Well, apparently it tastes really good, so you should at least give it a go. I have to admit that Jack does not show any signs of UTI anymore, but he does still pee around the place. It might be because of the UTI he has been accostumed to just pee where he felt it necessary and now it is a habit…but like you with Jersey I’m secretly hoping that it might be a bit of UTI left that makes him do it. So I am hoping for a miracle with the UTI Free
Not sure if I would like to live to I’m 90 either. Only if I am in good health and with a strong body. Otherwise, I hope for something quick a few years earlier.
How do buns get UTIs?
I am going to sew today.. and one of my good friends from high school is coming over to mee ChaCha
My friend loves bunnies as well. But she has a cat..
As I type this, there is a fly buzzing around my room.. UGH!
that is a good question brittany I would like to know that too.
You sew? Me too. A friend taught me. She used to work with the ladies in mexico and she did alterations too so she taught me some.
My mom sent me some beautiful material. Friday we went to get a pattern to make a top n skirt. Didn’t have the $ for the skirt and I can make a skirt without a pattern anyways.
Havent’ got started yet. Soon .
I am printing out pics today. I have a total of 57. Havn’t printed in a while. can you tell? lol
I wish I knew how to make shirts and skirts. I can’t sew in a straight line, LOL.
Jerseygirl – I have 2 great aunts: one lived til their 80’s, the other lived to be 104, I think.
Taken by a friend..

My friend calls her ‘Little Diva,” .. LOL .. Well, she was posing for the camera! She stood still for a while after that!!
What a cool thread! This morning I gave Bindi a little friend. I was not sure how she would react, but it went really well. I thought she was trying to pull his fur out, but then I saw her little pink tongue and realized she was grooming him. Hopefully, this is a good omen for future bondings
. I tried to get the little pink tongue, but missed this time.

She started chewing on his “whiskers” so I cut them.
So cute! Karl got a friend like that as well when he was our only bunny…it was true friendship with lots of grooming. He still actually grooms it, when I once in a while give it to him. It is so funny that the like their stuffed toys so much
But just proves how social they really are.
Hahah, Bindi, you are so lucky that your bun plays with stuffed animals! Mine has nothing to do with ’em!! ChaCha loves to groom my hoodies ![]()
I had 2 friends over yesterday and bun was social!! I guess she is coming out of her shell as she gets older ![]()
here is a photo of her inspecting my friend’s bag.. she didn’t chew on her bag !! WOW!! she reminds me of cat here.. LOL!! the cats that i know like to inspect the bag.. and then the person HAHAHA![]()

My friend gave my bun a receipt paper, rubbed it all over her and put it in front of her LOL Bun began to chew it
chacha DID nibble on both of my friend’s clothes… as usual
my friends didn’t mind.. perhaps because it was being ruined by such a cutie?
I get off of work at 630… and I will be seeing Clash of the Titans..
Brittany, ChaCha is so cute – “What kind of treat does this person have in this bag for me?” I had a Cocker spaniel who was down right rude about checking bags – the minute a person would put down their purse, grocery bag or tote, her head was INSIDE the bag: Whatcha got, whatcha got!!! Maybe she could have gotten a job with Customs![]()
I just got back from this tacky little place that folks around here call “The Rio Mall” . It is a real old squatty building with a bunch of junk for sale outside of it. It’s kind of a combination Big Lots/Yard Sale/Vegetable Stand/Flower Stand kind of place. Anyway, I found the deal of the century
. The bowl that I have been feeding Bindi with seems too deep for her short little neck and a lot of times she gets PO’d and flips it. So I was kind of checking out the crockery and I came across this jewel. It was in a beaten up little box still with the bubble wrap on it and…wait for it….it cost 50 CENTS!!!! It is perfect!! I think it’s supposed to be an egg plant and it’s for chips and dip or something. Anyway, I love it! I made Bindi’s salad up early so you could see what a good bunny slave I am – Princess Bindi loves her meals beautifully prepared – appetizing to the palate AND the eye![]()

The new bowl reminds me of an eggplant ![]()
I think I’m giving up on the trio bonding. Esp. after hearing one member’s story about their rabbit having a big gash from getting in a fight. I’m too afraid of something happening to one of them, Archie wouldn’t stop fighting Sandy. Last night I came to realize that I’m glad it didn’t work out because Sandy followed me all over the house and into the kitchen while I prepared their food and stood there waiting for me. She acts like I’m her mom and my husband is her dad and just loves attention from us. Archie used to be like her but then when we bonded him with Gracie he spent all his time with her instead of us….cheater! haha! She’s so different from the other two though, I just can’t see them all together and she doesn’t mind being “alone” even though she’s next to them and Gracie gives her the evil eye every so often hehe!
Yeah sometimes I wish (deep down inside) that we didn’t get Layla cause Charlie doesn’t love me as much any more. It’s so sad but I guess he’s happier with Layla but I still feel betrayed lol
Such rascals
I actually found that Karl became more social and interested in cuddles after bonding him with Molly. Molly, however, changed a bit when I got Jack. She is not as interested in cuddles anymore – I think she is getting more than she needs from both Jack and Karl. Jack is by far the most cuddly of them all – it he could decide, I think he would want to go everywhere with me just so he could get cuddles all the time.
I actually read once that it is not the bunnies that get less social, but actually the owners who sort of withdraw a bit once they add another bunny because they don’t spend nearly as much time with their bonded bunnies as they would if they had just one. It sounds plausible. Jack is taking up a lot of time for instance, so they others don’t get as much attention anymore and I can feel that Karl is not as social anymore as he used to be just a few months ago.
That could be, I don’t sit down and try to cuddle with them as much as Sandy but Archie and Gracie are always with each other. You can tell when they’re fighting because one will be in the cage and the other in the living room. I think they were fighting yesterday because Archie was out in the living room and actually laid down by me and let me pet him for awhile…until Gracie saw me petting “her man” and ran over and scared him hehe! They only really come up to me if I have a treat or they’ll run to me if they hear the fridge door open.
I do miss the days when we just had Archie and he would sit up in his cottage on the top level and actually watch tv with us. It was so cute! He watched the whole movie of Wall-e with us, just sat there the whole time, so cute! Now he spends all his time cuddling but he seems pretty happy. He does stare at Sandy longingly (but he might just want to hump her). I feel kind of bad but then I think about the bonding and know it’s for the best.
Off topic but I just got my Dyson today!!! It was scheduled online to be delivered on the 15th so I was really surprised! It’s still in the box right now, I have to finish eating breakfast and I’ll open it up. Let you guys know how it is…I really need to vacuum too!
Morning small-talkers! I was away in Austin for a long weekend, but it was kind of stressful because Hannah was at home not eating. The pet sitter gave her critical care muliple times a day and she pulled through. It was a result of her teeth trimming, so she never seemed to develop any GI issues – she just needed to be forcefed until she felt like eating again. Now she’s chowing down. Funny how she had very mild molar spurs and didn’t show any symptoms, but get them trimmed and she won’t eat for 3 days.
I did get a little annoyed at the pet sitter because she gave way too many treats. I guess she thought that if a bunny will only eat treats, might as well give a bunch. But I came home and the huge thing of dried papaya was half gone – I haven’t given them that amount in a few months! I’m very stingy with treats, and it doesn’t seem to have hurt her, but still. Really wish she wasn’t getting so much sugar while the only other food in her tummy was critical care and maybe one piece of lettuce. Oh, and the pet sitter bought some yogurt drops to try to tempt her to eat – luckily she told me about it so I could tell her not to feed them.
She’s by far the most experienced pet sitter in the area with bunnies, I just don’t like when people don’t do things the way I would, I guess. And she is a trained vet tech – I can’t imagine many other pet sitters being comfortable with pinning down a bunny and force feeding crit care.
If she needs any more teeth trimming, you’d better bet I won’t be going to Texas the same weekend! Haha. Though the trip was pretty fun. Best bbq and Mexican food ever.
Good morning
Although we are actually getting ready for dinner soon
It sounds like it must have been a bit of a stressful trip for you then, but sounds like it was the best sitter you could have had due to the force feeding. I’m glad she pulled through.
Ummm, Texas sounds hot and sunny…
I love that eggplant bowl! I need some kind of veggie bowl for Hannah and that’s so perfect. I hope I can find something as good.
I’m getting sad reading about how everybody’s bunnies don’t spend time with them after bonding 🙁 This is probably our biggest fear. However, since Otto really likes being on the living room rug, I hope that we can still drag him out every night for exercise time and snuggle with him. I would be so sad if my little buddy didn’t want to be my buddy anymore. Though he’s always been a bit of an aloof bunny and we’ve worked very hard to get him to this point, which makes me think he’ll still be our buddy. If he was just naturally super affectionate, I could imagine him putting his energy into a bunny partner, but I feel like we’ve spent so much time bonding with him ourselves that I don’t think we’ll lose that. At least I hope so!
Karla, it actually wasn’t that hot and sunny! It never got up to 80, which was awesome because I hate hot weather (which is why we went in April, becaues it doesn’t get insanely hot in the summer) and it was actually kind of foggy/drizzly on Sunday. But Austin is a very cool city – it’s more like Portland or San Francisco than another city in Texas.
After the visit to the vet and the vet telling us to have Jack put to sleep, we went outside in our shared garden with him. Here he is enjoying some dandelions…he looks fine to me ![]()
They do so many binkies when they are outside. Karl is practically impossible to get in again, he won’t get near us and when we come close, he runs off. But with lots of treats, we always manage to catch him in the end. Why doesn’t he learn ![]()
What? Your vet suggested he be put to sleep? I’m still catching up and didn’t see your thread about it. What’s wrong with him? 🙁
Your bun looks happy and content to me…
Last night, I fed chacha treats and … she licked me!!! It has never happened before!! But..
she licked me on the lips XD XD XD
I think she knows where kisses are from!
I’m so sorry Karla, I hope you guys can find the problem and fix him, it’s so hard to think about letting a bun go. It was so difficult to do that to my first bun. Is there another vet by you that you can get an second opinion from? There must be something else they can do, he looks ok to me. With my first bun, I knew we had to let him go because he just couldn’t stand up anymore and I didn’t want him to suffer with tests and whatnot; he was 12 years old and he deserved to go in peace.
I tried my new vac after my husband got up…..I LOVE IT! I don’t think I’ll ever go back to a regular vac again. I’m officially in love with Dyson. I got the one with the ball, it’s so much easier to get around furniture and you can turn the brush off to go on hardwood floors…AWESOME! I think I’ll clean more often now haha!

haha – I immediately thought ” oh that box will be great for the bunnies!” No envy for the deluxe new cleaner, just cardboard box envy!
Ok - off topic again, I’ve noticed some absent members. Moobunnay! Haven’t seen her on for ages. Hope all is ok… (((vibees))). K&K seems to have gone awol too – likely she’s busy-busy. And also Bren who has the bunny Nilli (formerly known as Willie).
Lastly, (({{{Major vibes for Jack}}})) That’s a great picture too.
I am really hungry right now. I really really want some salami with cream cheese and green olives rolled up. Or…I wanted some pickles but they are soggy and not crunchy. I hate those pickles.
I’ve been craving toast with jam and honey the last couple days. I like toast when sick
I just had some fries…
I’m excited for the weekend. Going to a fair with grandma on Saturday
There will be.. bunnies galore..
I’m mad because when I ordered my Dyson I registered for the Amazon credit card because it said 6 months no interest, so I ordered it and went back and saw it was cheaper…canceled that order and reordered it for $15 cheaper. I got the bill today and didn’t see anything about no interest. I looked online and in small print it said that it didn’t apply to third parties and when I went to reorder it was from some other company….doh! And then I saw in the Sears ad today that it was on sale for $449!! GRR! Oh well.
Oh no Skibunny!
Dyson, as in vacuum?
Yeah I got the Dyson Animal. I still saved money though, it’s usually $599 and I got it for $480. Oh well there’s always a better deal. Good thing we got some money back from our taxes to pay it off haha! It was still worth it though, I absolutely love that vac!
LOVE it!! We have one of these on the dog forum I’m on-it’s like thousands of posts now. We just sort of log on and chat about whatever and whoever is on chats back-no need to read the whole thread
It’s great!
So I’ll give a mini update here since I’m planning on a bigger one. Chuck is still ill, doing lots of meds right now for four-six weeks (we’ll see how things go) vet consulted big with the specialists and this is probably the last round of meds-we’ll see how things go from here and dictate what we do.
We just bought a tent trailer-sort of. We pick it up and pay for it on Saturday in Calgary. Very exciting because we’ve always tented and the only amentities are campsite provided or if we camp with my parents and they come in one of their motorhomes. WE got a great deal as it needs some repairs.
Which means I’m interviewing pet sitters-since we’re going camping in about four weeks -going to do as planned hire a pet sitter and have a couple of friends check daily. Pet sitter will need to come four times a day for meds (if Chuck is still on them) and bedding changes, plus feeding, opening/closing windows. THink this is going to be pricey… lol
Also got my fish-pictures to come -and I think that’s about it. Very busy with ‘ChuckChores’ and the yardwork-the weather is about six weeks ahead of schedule-way warmer then usual and run off my feet ![]()
Awww poor Chuck! Vibes and hugs for you and your crew and especially Chuck! ((((((hugs!))))))
So here’s something random… search yourself on pipl.com…. it’s scary how much info is out there… take care of yourselves!
I actually came across an old social networking profile on some itty bitty site that a friend convinced me to join years and years ago. Thank goodness I didn’t have much personal info or any pictures up. It took several failed attempts to guess my password.. I was pretty sure I knew which email account I had linked to that profile, but of course, it’s been several years since I’ve even logged into that email account and I couldn’t get in to it to do one of those “forgot your password” deals… I tried. Anyway, FINALLY got into the profile, and promptly changed my email account and then deleted the entire thing. Sheesh. So despite my hour or so of panic while I tried to figure out how to get into that profile to take it down, the pipl search was a good thing
Barbie: thanks for the tip. Apparently, I had a blog haha. I had no idea. Created in 2006. Now it’s deleted.
K&K: what is wrong with Chuck? I hope he will get better. It sounds like you are fighting all that you can. >>>>Healing vibes<<<<
This definitely is a popular thread — what a great idea. What the link to the forum that does this and I can see how they handle it and bring the idea to our forum. I could create a sub-section in lounge for this so that new threads can be started every day or every few days…whatever you all decide you want to do with it.
I saw a litter of 1 day old kits today! Just for a second but they looked a good healthy size from what I could see. I went to pick up some tiles I was buying off this guy. I thought he might have rabbits because his email siggy was name of his business which is taking animals to primary schools for education. Reptiles, mammals, fish etc. Turns out he doesn;t do this much these days but he still has some of the animals.
The mamma was a little REW rex. It’s like her 3rd litter and apparently she hasn’t been the best mother. (Too young IMO). The father (separated thank goodness) was a cute dwarf breed in Harlequin colouring. Awww! He was a bit shy though. They’re still in my thoughts. They’re outdoor bunnies but at least not on wire flooring. It’s funny, because I have house rabbits, I can’t understand how anyone else can have them otherwise – even though it is so common to house them outdoors. Anyway, I so wasn’t expecting to see real live rabbit kits today!
Oh, cute. I’ve never seen kits. Not sure if he should be the one to teach future bunny owners about bunnies though if he keeps them outdoors and they are shy. Must be hard for a shy rabbit to be brought to a school. I actually saw an ad for that kind of volunteer job the other day. I would have loved to teach kids about rabbits as pets, but it is a 2 hour drive from where I live, so not this time.
I think he said it was less social now that he isn’t doing this business now. So perhaps he is handled less…? From what I could tell the school thing was just to introduce kids to different animals. Talk about their dietsa and habitats etc and maybe let them handle them. The site showed mainly reptiles. I kinda wished I’d taken in more about their cages but I wasn’t there long and was too distract by the bunnies themselves. But if I did notice too much, I’d probably be here at home feeling bad… They appeared healthy and the guy seemed nice (not that this tells you much) but my impression was the animals were cared for. Just not pampered like ours!!
Yesterday I found out that I shouldn’t bring Sandy out when school is letting out. She had her little vest on and I had my leash in hand and she was hopping around the yard…well the mulch bed and in the driveway. For some reason she’s not as crazy about exploring the yard and wants to go in our gravel driveway instead. We live on a pretty quiet street but everytime a car would go by she’d duck down and wait until it left before sitting back up. It’s quite cute. Well she had been out for awhile and the school buses were starting to go by (not on our street, the main road by us). It wan’t that loud but I guess to her it was really scary! You know when you see a wild bunny and you get close to it and it just takes off? That’s what she did! If she didn’t have her leash on, I don’t know where she would have gone (our yard is fenced in the back though)!! I tried to stop her but she was determined to get out of sight and I didn’t want her trying to wiggle out of her vest (even though it was on pretty good). I got her to stay in the front yard and she ran under our japanese maple tree (those don’t grow that big, it’s just a little talker than me, with branches low to the ground). She even thumped twice too which I’ve never heard her thump. She went back by the tree and up against our house. I had to get under the tree and get the leash around the trunk of the tree. I couldn’t get to her and I just sat there calling to her (who knows what the neighbors were thinking). It was probably almost 5 minutes until she slowly hopped out to see if the coast was clear, which I had to again go under the tree and get the leash around the trunk and move it away from branches it kept catching on. Finally got her out and I scooped her up, she was scared to death. I brought her back inside and she ran to the top and laid down. So no more outtings around 3pm ![]()
Oh yikes! Poor Sandy!
I’ve taken Leroy and Jeannie out side a couple times this spring, since they’re both used to their harnesses now. And they are SO freaking cute in their little harnesses… Jeannie’s is pink, Leroy’s is blue! I’ll have to post a picture of them later. I can’t take them out anymore though becasue my apartment complex fertilized the grass. Booo. I’ll just have to take them home to my parent’s house for outside play time now. Anyway. Because I have two of them, and becasue I have to carry them down a flight of steps to go outside, I just put them in their carrier (harnesses and leashes already on!) and then just open the carrier door when we’re outside and let them hop out on their own. They like exploring and munching the grass and they retreat to the carrier if they get scared – some of the birds around here are REALLY noisy and I don’t think the bunnies like them, lol. So, maybe next time bring a carrier or a box or something she views as a “safe” place outside with her so she can hide in there if she feels like it. ![]()
awwww poor Sandy xD i cant believe she tried to take off!!
i dont really need to harness shadow because he doesnt leave the front porch. if you pick him up and put in the neighbor’s lawn he’ll run back to our house xD;;
i dont know why he doesnt want to explore the outdoors *sigh*
well at least i dont have to worry about him running away. nothing outside really spooks him anymore. hes more brave then my dog (who runs from plastic bags taken by the wind. how sad is that?)
Lol silly doggy!
My parents have a huge chocolate lab. And the poor thing is terrified of small dogs! I think it’s becasue there’s this nasty toy poodle in our neighborhood that escapes from its yard and chases us down the street on walks and terrorizes Teddy. Often, its owner is in the yard as their dog runs off and they don’t do anything; they don’t even attempt to catch their dog or call it back, they just let it run down the street after us. And then else where in the neighboorhood there are these two disgusting looking mutts. I mean, seriously, I love dogs, and I wouldn’t usually say any dog is ugly, but wow… these dogs are.. just… wow. Lol. It doesn’t help my opinion of them that they once ran through their electric fence to bite Teddy on the nose! Teddy is not an aggressive dog – he’s got the sweetest temperment – so he didnt even try to defend himself against those dumb mutts. He was bleeding too, so it was a pretty bad bite. Sheesh. I can’t stand people who don’t even bother to control their dumb pets.
AUUUUGH omg thats terrible! i hope you said something to the owners. please tell me you said something D:
my family doesnt tolerate people who dont have control over thier pets. our neighbor lets her dog out to do its business in everybodies lawn and once it when in our grass. my mother came out the house, scooped up the poo, and left it on the lady’s porch with a note saying “you dropped this”. she was so embarressed. i havent seen the dog since lol.
well i’m gonna butt in on this thread and mention that i just gave a speech about bunnies! i had to give a persuasive speech so i chose “why rabbits make good pets but not good gifts.” it went fairly well. i was surprised that the class actually seemed interested. i figured they’d all fall asleep in the 5 minutes that i was required to speak. haha..
i talked about the hundreds of bunnies abandoned each year after easter, the overpopulation issue, what’s required to keep a bunny healthy and happy, and why you should adopt from a shelter.
mainly i’m just mentioning this because most of what i know is all due to the info i’ve gotten from binky bunny and i want to thank all of you for contributing as much as you do because it really helped with my speech. =)
Thats a good speech corpathina
My bun is scared of the outdoors.. even when birds are doing their own business in the backyard. Perhaps some buns like the indoors better.
That’s a great idea Barbie! Before I’d just carry her out since she doesn’t mind being held but next time I’ll bring the carrier out. We take them in the front yard because our neighbor has big dogs in the back that even scare me. They haven’t been out that much though.
I can’t put Gracie on a leash, she hates it, and doesn’t care for the outdoors. We have a big x-pen that we can set up outside just for the two of them. But Sandy doesn’t mind the harness and leash, she even binkied around the yard.
Great speech Corpathina! I love BB, I don’t think I would have learned 1/2 the bunny info from regular books that I’ve learned on here.
nice speech corpathina :3
i’m sure you save a lives of many bunnies in the near furture. i’ve never been to a shelter. would i be able to find a baby rex in one or would they all be mixed breeds?
also waaaay off topic but i’m so excited because i made my very first pixel avatar today.—-> ![]()
Sani, be careful to show such avatars, because you are just going to have hundreds of us asking for one! I guess you must still be worn out after all those drawing requests, but you are so good at it. Is it something you just do for fun or something you intend to do for a living?
If you know you want another rex, then you could contact your local shelter and tell them to notify you? Or just begin looking at the websites of the shelters near you. It seems to me than a lot of really interesting pure bred rabbits are up for adoption in the US.
I just have to post a picture of Molly – as you can see, it can be very tireing to chew important papers. But at least, she knows I cannot take them from her now as she guards them.
it wasnt that bad actually xD i enjoyed making everyone’s bunnies. i’m totally gonna reopen it in the near furure.
AS MUCH AS I WANT ANOTHER BUN BUN my mother wont let me get another one. so i have to wait until i get my own place…but i can still window shop teehee.
my state alone has a wide selection of rabbit breeds and we have this huge fair every year for showing them.
haha Molly is so cute xD
i just wanna cuddle her <33

well i’m gonna butt in on this thread and mention that i just gave a speech about bunnies!
I did this semester as well.
Mine was an informative speech, I called it “Happy, healthy, house rabbits.” I talked about proper diets, housing, exercise, etc. and the class really liked it. They couldn’t get over how I mentioned my two having ‘poop wars’ haha. It was also the easiest speech I’ve ever done! Want me to talk about my rabbits? Okay!! ![]()
lol, that’s exactly why i picked the topic, kiley rose. we had to speak for at least 6-7 minutes and my professor was worried i wouldn’t have enough info. to her surprise, i nearly ran over-time. haha! it was definitely the least-stressful speech i’ve given so far because i’m so very comfortable with the info. we have one more speech left to give.. -thinks of ways to talk about bunnies again- =D
Haha, right. We have one more due as well..I won’t be able to come up with this one the night before though!
there are so many new bunnies at the shelter in another city.. my gosh. i want to take them ALL HOME.. but poor koucha would have a fit. she is used to being an only child.
i’ve been stressed out lately… thanks work :<
That’s a great idea for a speech you guys! Spreading the word about shelter bunnies and proper bunny care and talking about what yu love to get a good grade, what could be better?!
Sani, I got Leroy from the shelter, and as far as I know, he’s a pure rex. Larger than a mini rex, but smaller than a standard rex, so someone on the thread suggested he might be a cross between a standard and a mini. Anyway, his body type and face shape, and, of course, fur is just like a rex!
Just be on the look out, and when it comes time to get another bunny, let the shelters/rescues know what you’re looking for, and request that they call you if they get any bunny in like that.
I found out today to never force Sandy back in her cage. I tried getting her back in the cage and tried to wrangle her around the living room. I guess she got mad at me because I got her into the hallway and she snapped her head back and bit the palm of my hand! ![]()
OUCH! So I left her alone for a second and every time I got near her she jerked her head around like she as going to bite me again
Ok, don’t use hands, so I used my foot to nudge her a little and she jerked back and bit my sock
I finally lured her with raisins….should have done that in the first place! It is a full moon, maybe that’s why…hmm…..
Leia our Rat Terrier teenager…..was, I need to find the right word for this….Lol I just gagged thinking of her doing this – she was marinating a MOUSE in her mouth on my parents bed!!!! Ughhhhhhhhhhh!! I was talking to my mom and dad about grandma’s necklace and I see her playing with something in her mouth, I thought it was the stuffed raccoon tail…but then she plopped it on the bed and…..dead mouse!!!!! AHHH!!! My mom shrieked and ran away, leaving my dad and I in the dust. I then ran away screaming. Leia shot off with it into the backyard. My dad had the task of taking it away from her (BWAHAHAHA) since we’ve dubbed her “his dog”. Just 2 days ago she had a rat in the house! Arrghh!! Anyways, it’s 10pm and pitch black and dad just locks her outside with the mouse. I was like. “daaaaaaaaaad, thats a vet bill….you can’t let her eat it!” So he goes out and there she is wiggling her little piggy curly tail, happy as a clam with her new found treasure!! We told her to come and she just wiggles more in great delight, so then my dad…Mr Olympian decides to kick the dog pool, aka baby pool (It’s empty) and turns it into a UFO and Leia drops the mouse and comes running inside! (the pool wasn’t anywhere near her, it was on the deck, she was a good 30 feet away) *rolls eyes* Leia was worried for the next hour that some pool flying saucer was going to get her. She had the most guilty look in her face and had her little ears back. We gave her lots of cookies to clean her breath….no doubt rewarding the mouse eating behavior lol. So she is no longer the Rat Terrier, she is the Mouse Terrier.
Did I kill the thread for the day
Sorry. No more dead mouse talk.
lol
Maybe it was the UFO that freaked us.
Hahahaha. No, Lintini! I read your post this morning while I was on a school computer and didn’t feel like bothering to log in, so I meant to comment on that tonight … and then of course, I forgot!
Anyway, gross. Dogs are gross. Adorable. But gross.
Lol. I’ll still let them give me kisses though! Your story makes me miss my dog (he’s at my parents’ house… he turned 8 on March 20)… He goes after small animals like that (including sometimes the baby wild bunnies in our yard! Yikes!) Problem is, once he gets something, we can’t get it away from him before he eats it. Blech.
I’m 99.9% sure the cat brought the small rodent into the backyard to “share.” It just enforces that I would never trust my dogs around my rabbits unless I was in complete control (holding my dog – they are both 15lbs). I held Wickett (the pom) and let him meet Bun last year, he was absolutely beside himself and very jealous of her, so I let him come in, he just looked at her and she charged him from about 5 feet away!!!! He begged to be picked back up away from her. So, I don’t even bother. And Leia, she is rough with us and still learning right from wrong, I wouldn’t trust her. So I am glad I have blocked them off from coming downstairs completely but it doesn’t stop me at all from checking my door knob 2-3 times before I leave anywhere ![]()
there are several openings for receptionist or veterinary assistant at the nearby vets for less.. i just turned in my application, cover letter, resume. i hope that i get it! i have so much experience!! i need a new job!
speaking of resumes… my bun almost got ahold of mine!!

![]()
Hehe Chacha must approve of your job, didn’t you know that? ![]()
i got the paper away from her so she couldn’t do a ‘rabbit nibble of approval!’
Haha! Indy ran off with my midterm study guide/notes! I feel you!
Obviously you have been approved for the job!
she is very smart
i was typing up a resume on the couch the other night, and i had a small memo pad next to my laptop. my bun stretches up and grabs the memo pad with her teeth and runs off with it!! it was her way of saying,”stop writing so many resumes!!”
i hope that i get it! i would be so much fun.. seeing animals on a daily basis!! the only thing i am dreading is split days off
but hey, its with furry animals so why not?
I think it would be fantastic for you! I should try for something like that too…I am so sick and tired of working at Starbucks. It’s not rewarding at all and I hate …HATE the people in the drive-thru. When I worked at Petco at least I could help show people what they should/should not buy for their pets and I steered a lot of people away from the small animal section thankfully. The yellow dishwashing gloves to catch hamsters really scared parents thinking they were buying a rabid animal and left the store LOL!!!! If my boss took me out of the aquatics section for the day, I did whatever I could to stop the sale of whatever section she put me in. I was a jerk, and she thought I was a wonderful book of knowledge and completely abused me. I will never forget the day I did a 50% water change on my Koi tank ( I was the aquatics specialist at this store) and then then old man who …I don’t know how old he was, but he had solid white hair…he drained the koi tank the next day and THEY ALL DIED!!!! He then did the same thing to my salt water tanks!! It took me one month to establish their tanks to be salt water again and I had some tangs and butterflies, and gobies for sale and he killed them all by draining the tanks when I had it all documented that I had done it the day before!! OMG *RAGE* It’s been 4 years since this and it still makes me so angry.
Poor FISH OMG!!!!!!!
I really hate retail. I work for a japanese retail company and the boss doesn’t even bother talking to us.. he just speaks to the Japanese employees. Now we are becoming understaffed and he wont’ hire anyone because of our sales. So now me and this other girl (also a bunny owner) are looking for other jobs. She already had an interview for veterinary assistant at a cat place.
I will be calling Vets for Less on Monday to see where my app stands. Persistance pays off!!!
Good luck finding another job Lintini.. I hope both of us can find places that appreciate us!!
Going back to the feed store, they charged me 2 times for 1 bag of 10lbs oxbow pellets. *rolls eyes*
OH thanks Linds, reminded me to order more pellets. Must do that today.
Omg.. how could they? O.o
I plan to switch ChaCha over to Oxbow when she becomes an adult bun.. I have the bag up in the spare bedroom.
I finally got my phone upgrade.. to a Motorola Droid ![]()
I just buy my pellets from the BB store
Much easier
The local petstores here only ever seem to have the 5lb bags, if they have any at all. So… BB store for me ![]()
I have a bad habit of waiting until I am almost out so I have to go that day to get more
I am a huge procrastinator
Guys, I have MICE! They’ve got into the hay. I left seed heads in a bag in my garage and heard it rustling this week. Then saw a mouse (I think) scoot by. Then this morning I saw a tail disappear into a big box I have elsewhere with my new bale of hay in it. I haven’t even begun using it yet.
Ick! Then…..today I bought a bag of hay from the feed store because I can keep that indoors. And when I opened it some of the hay was spotted. Mold! Boo Hoooo!
Awww man! Bummer Jersey!
Gah that sucks JG!! Both the mice AND the mold! ![]()
ha. I just realised I took topic back to mice. Lin, I may need to borrow Leia. Actually, my sis who I live with has a rat terrier but he lives with her ex hubby/current BF (<same person, long story). He's afraid of rats though. tehe.
I can’t set anything on them anyway. It makes me squeamish! I’m thinking I can toss the grain bag straight in the bin on bin night and hope the mice go with it. They can live at the dump. Other than that, I don’t know how to deal with them.
