I  recently got a new lion head bunny. we also bought her sister. they are 7 weeks old and we have  had them for 2 weeks now. they are so cute. my white bunny is a little more skiddish and full of energy she also looks to be the runt of the litter. She doesn’t even look like a lion-head she looks like a kitten.(so adorable)  shes always moving her litter box around in her cage. Is that normal behavior?? Also my  second question is that we just today let them out of their cage, we had them upstairs in our hallway we also brought their litter box up as well. For a good 5 min they both sat in the litter box sniffing and looking at the area they had to play in then one by one they hoped out. My black on was totaly fine she hoped around a little and snifffed. the white one  was like freaking out . her hind back legs would like make her jump really high and she would jerk her body like a seizure but she was either hoping inplace or  hoping around.  she freaked me out so much!! i didnt know what to do i ha to get my dad to come pick her up and she was fin after. is there any reason for this??? thankss

I am pretty new to this board, but I have learned ALOT in a short amount of time.  Bunnies like to do their own decorating and if she prefers her litter box in a certain spot, it’s best to let her decide.  Like Monkey said, the “freak out” is an expression of pure unadulterated joy in bunnies.  She was happy to be out and about.  I’ve also been on here long enough to know that there are going to be demands for pictures of the little darlings, so please post pics.  Welcome to the board – you will learn a lot!

              Welcome!

It does sound like a binky. If she was moving around like popcorn and twisting her body mid-air, jumping then landing facing the other way, shaking her head and ears – then this is binkying. And given you said she is the energetic bunny, I’m not surprised she was doing the binkying. Binkies are great to see – especially from baby bunnies. This is a bunny named Billy showing some binkies. Is this similar to what your bunny was doing?

The litter box moving is normal. She does sound like she’s a busy girl, arranging and decorating. It’s probably her way of entertaining herself. If she’s moving it and pottying behind it, she’s showing an adversion to her box. She may want it placed somewhere else in her cage. If it’s a problem, you can try fix the box in place. Pop 2 holes in the side and wire it to the cage side. Or devise another way to fix it in place.

I just wanted to add that alot of rabbits are mis-sexed – so I encourage you get your 2 checked by a vet to determine they actually are 2 girls.

She’s doing binkies, Alex, she’s doing the happy dance! Don’t feel bad, the first hour we had our first one at home, Pringles came out of her cage, binkied and did a total flop and we thought she was having a seizure and dying…lol. Scared us to death.
