So last night Phil decided to keep me up by chewing the lining in his cage, which by the way is supposed to impossible to chew threw.  Lydia saw this and decided that looked fun.  Monkey see monkey do.  So I now have to chewing bunny problems.  They both have willow baskets with hay in them and Lydia has a big hay ball from this site.  I think they both want something they can easily destroy.

Are phone books actually okay for bunnies?  I saw it on one of the forums but was just making sure that the ink or anything cant hurt them. Should I take the covers off?

Any other ideas for these two destroyers would be appreciated :]

Phone books are fine. Mine will only shred a few pages and then they lose interest, but they always have a phone book available. Tear off the glossy covers tho… only leave the thin pages. Another thing you could try is a diggy box. I have a small plastic pet carrier I no longer use (b/c it’s too small for both the buns together) and I fill it with some crumpled newspaper sheets every few days. They love to dig and shred it.

Okay! I’ll try that! Phil is a chewing bunny and Lydia never was until she saw him chewing. Now all of a sudden she loves it! So weird.

My bunnies get intent of chewing stuff if it is attached to the pen or cage- I have used sisal rope to tie a basket in place and they will decimate the basket in days- otherwise it had been in there for weeks.  So that might motivate your bunny.  I don’t know if it because they want their environment “just so” or if it becomes more of a challenge then.

Okay I will try that! I bought a basket here online so i’ll get a safe rope and tie it up. I’m sure Phil will love it.
