Juliet has suddenly stoped eating her pellets. The first night I brought her home and into the first day I had her she ate her pellets great and for the past two days I’ve been noticing she hasnt been eating them. Shes drinking normally (A lot), going to the bathroom normally and when I took her a peice of Apple she ate it with no problem. Im really worried about her. Sorry for another question I just want to make sure shes ok.

How much pellets are you giving her? Are you measuring them out?

I think it can be hard to tell if they are truly eating if you don’t measure them out.

Are these the pellets that her previous owner gave her as well.

What besides the pellets are you giving her?

I didnt know that, I’ll be sure to measure them out from now on. Yes, there the same kind of pellets her previous owner gave her. I give her plently of hay and an occasinal peice of apple or carrot (just usually twice a week)

Is she getting unlimited hay? Are you giving her any vegetables?

A good rabbit diet is unlimited hay, fresh greens and limited pellets.

I know Juliet is 10 months old, do you know how much she weighs?

Yes, unlimited hay and she gets celery. Should she be getting more greens? Shes about 3 1/2 pounds.

She’s tiny! I would reduce her pellets to to 1/4 cup a day.

Start introducing more greens as well. I would only introduce one green at a time. Ideally for veggies, based on the House Rabbit Society guideline you would want to feed 2 cups chopped veggies per 6 pounds body weight and you want a variety of greens daily.

It sounds as if she is filling up on the pellets which may be why she is not eating as much.

Thank you so much for all your help. I just measured out her food and took away the rest so I can see how she does with this and we’re headed to the store to pick up some veggie’s. I’m a lot less freaked out now.

Mellow has also reduced his pellet intake. He eats TONS of hay, greens twice a day, and wheat grass. I give him about a quarter cup of pellets at night and there are still some left in the morning. He just doesn’t eat that many.
