It’s been a long while since I post on here, I hope everyone is doing well.

I have had Tigerlily for almost two years now! My first housebunny, last year (Feb 2009) we had her bonded and she and Takoda are doing great. The last week or so Tigerlily has been very standoffish towards me. She does not hop on the sofa and lay with me as she always has, she hides in her box whenever i come near her cage. This is very odd behavior for her, she has ALWAYS been super sweet towards me and while she has shied away from my husband she always comes to me. Aside from this she seems to be well, her poop is normal and her eating habits have not changed. Takoda is still super friendly. I know bunnies will be bunnies but i feel heartbroken, i have been with her since she was 6 weeks old she has always been very close to me. Why is she being so standoffish now?

Welcome back! I’m glad to hear the buns are doing well!

As far as Tigerlily… changes in normal behavior can indicate a health issue, but if she’s fine in every other regard, I wouldn’t worry about it right now. She may just be having a mood. Moods can change with a different schedule, or if she’s going thru a shed. Keep an eye on her, but try not to worry so much.

            Welcome back

Ditto Beka-a big change like that can be an indicator something is wrong. She might just be shedding and super grumpy as it happens, but keep a close eye for eating and pooping-if anything big changes along those lines it might be time to get her in to the vet.

Or, the change may not be with her but with you. If you have done anything new, like a new perfume, shampoo or soap that makes your scent different, she may be reacting to that.

When Cotton and Ruby were together Cotton stopped jumping up with me for pettings.  He just hung with Ruby.  Everywhere she went he went.

They can get less sociable with you once bonded.   Unfortunately.

Also keep a watch on her as mentioned earlier.   Health could be a factor. Doesn’t  hurt to be cautious
