I can’t believe it! I was hearing some munching from the bunny room while I’m in the kitchen getting the cats their breakfast, and it doesn’t sound right to me, so I go in to look…

There is my roll of paper towels disappearing into Mimzy’s cage! He’d gotten hold of them somehow (this is a mystery…they are not up high enough for him to see and I keep them well away from the cage) and had done this by the time I got there:

It looks like he got most of the first piece and a big hole out of the second, plus there were a few nibbles further on…but only a few pieces on the floor of his cage, so I’m sure he’s swallowed quite a bit.

Luckily, these are my thinner, cheap towels, not the thick Brawny type ones….

Will this hurt him? He’s going in first thing tomorrow anyway, but I’m concerned …could this cause a blockage?

I imagine he’ll be fine. Otto eats far more paper than this on a daily basis 😛

I think he’ll be fine too. Sandy got into the paper towels once. Our gate has some grids with bigger holes and she stuck her head through and pushed the paper towels down and started shredding and eating them! lol!

He’s eating his greens like he normally would, but I’m keeping an eye on him today anyway. Little bugger…..

Sorry, but that is kinda funny. Mellow says to ask Mimz how he reached them because he wants to get ours.

Seriously, I have NO idea how he got to them. He either had to have stuck a paw out somehow…but I would’ve thought he’d had to have been able to actually see that they were there…unless bunnies know what paper towels smell like…? Yeah, that doesn’t make sense to me either.

Maybe as the cat went by he tipped the roll over next to the bars? “Here, giant mousie that scares me…eat this. Have a nice tummyache.” >.<

I try so hard to be sure nothing ever gets close enough to the bunny pens to become food that’s not meant to be. The idea of any of them eating something indigestible is terrifying.

Kokanee used to hoard paper towels She’d hide them in her litter box

I have to laugh when I think back on it because, the sound was so distinctive it should’ve gotten me moving faster than I was…but I was thinking I must be hearing things and that he had to have been chewing his hay.
Then I realized that was the sound of something banging against the pen bars that I couldn’t quite place at first…so that lit a fire.
I was just stunned for a moment, there’s the paper towel roll being beaten to a pulp (literally) and some of the pieces stuck in the pen and leading to his mouth….
I had hoped he’d only torn it up, but there was maybe two small pieces on the floor. The rest of it was gone.

All three of them like to try to get hold of the box of Swiffer cloths too. Luckily they never get the cloths themselves, but they chew on the box if it gets too close.

Being that it’s paper based and is digestible and though yes, it’s bleached, it should not be a problem. I have forgotten paper towel rolls on the floor in the bunny room many times, and though Jack and Viv aren’t big paper towel eaters they’ve eaten quite a bit without any problem.

Since Vader gets free run of “his room” (a large under-the-stairway-closet attached to the bathroom) and also the bathroom during the day, his favorite thing to do is to find the toilet paper and shred it to bits and probably eats some too. Little monster. Now all my toilet paper has shredded edges and some bite and claw marks >.<

MM, Mimzy DID eat fiber. Paper towels – pulp of wood. It’s not all that bad for him, and if he has enough water and hay (and nothing else if you’re really worried) then he will digest it normally. I think he’s fine, and giggling.
