Archie is digging NONSTOP today!  I woke up today at 8am to Sandy digging in her box with all the yellow pages in it…which are ALL over her cage now.  She’s stopped but Archie started digging shortly after she started to and he hasn’t stopped!  It’s now 11:30am.  I think he’s finally tired out.  But man was it annoying!  He was digging all over the place, chewing on the colorplast pieces we have for the floor on the upper levels and throw them around, pushing the cardboard box around.  I think he was pissed at something.  I just made him more mad by picking him up and putting him in the living room (he ran back to the cage and dug more )  I know rabbits like to dig sometimes but he does it so much.  They have a cardboard box to dig in but he digs at the corolplast and tiles (I put tiles on the pieces of floor he tries to chew).

I believe the myth of the lop bunnies being tireless diggers. It is a myth without scientific studies to back it, but I believe it just as I believe that agouti-colored buns are feistier than other colors.

I have 4 rabbits, and the lop (Mops) digs for three hours constantly every morning. When I had my friend’s rabbits here there were two lops that also dug like mad. The one was so much into digging, he would dig even on plastic for hours. It was loud. My friend tells me that he dug a tunnel in his outside playground that was so deep you could fit your arm in it. The outside playground is therefore out of order because it can’t contain him effectively. This lop rabbit’s name is Roger if anyone remembers.

Gracie will dig a little but not like Archie (maybe since she’s older). I’ve taken Archie outside….won’t dig…but I also believe he’s a clean freak so that might be why LOL! My first bun, Mickey (an upper ear rabbit), would only dig a little when he was outside, other than that no digging.

I never heard of Roger but I love the video of Howard’s big dig (in the video gallery)!

It is possible that Archie just hasn’t discovered the fun of outdoor digging yet…if it were clean snow he might like it, what do you think?

It just hit me that Sandy is loppy plus agouti….

Think I should take him outside then?  It’s about 31 degrees F. here.  I brought snow in before but they weren’t interested in it at all.

Where do you put your rabbits to go outside? I meant maybe he would be a digger in the right circumstances.

Usually in the back yard. I wouldn’t be able to go to far because our yard is low and the snow is starting to melt so it’s getting to look like puddles back there haha

Mimzy digs quite a bit at the side of his habitat when he thinks it’s time for him to be out. Then he licks at it as if he’s sorry he scratched it.
Pip actually chews the bottom of her pen, but she’s an uppy ear bun.
Fiver will dig at his bedding once in awhile…it’s just fits and starts and then nothing. It’s cute to see him trying to make progress though.
I just caught Mimzy eating a paper towel though…and my bunnies have been thumping and have been more jumpy rather more than usual…I’m thinking, maybe the recent earthquakes in the world are unsettling some kind of rabbit communication grid and they’re all going bonkers? 0_o

My Holland lop, Fern, also loves to dig a lot more than my uppy eared bun – maybe it is a lop thing…

He is starting his shed, I wonder if he gets moody during “that time” of the year lol! Gracie was also digging a lot more than usual.
Archie’s probably just mad because he hasn’t seen his gf that he likes to attack now in awhile lol! Probably start that up maybe tomorrow if I’m feeling better. Today the tub is wet from showers. Ugh…bunny bonding
