i was wondering if i could let Mocha and Lulu outside to play in the snow? it is 33 F and i normaly keep my room at 60 is this to cold?
That’s pretty darn cold, even for a bunny in a fur coat.
Why don’t you see if they like the snow first? You can put a bucket or two of snow into your bathtub and let them play in it. Then if they don’t like it, they can get out quickly and towel dry, and give you disapproving looks. If they love it, well, maybe they will enjoy going out.

RP, “darn cold”? I think I remember you posting a while back about how uncomfortable you get at even such mild winter temps. 33 F is really not that bad at all as long as there is no wind. Rabbits have a warmer coat than some dog breeds and yet the indoor dogs have to go for daily walks in the winter.
The thing about bringing snow inside is that the rabbit gets wet because the snow melts at indoor temperature. Outside, the snow stays flakey and falls out of the rabbits coat dry.
mocha, there are ways to tell if your rabbit is too cold. If he puffs himself up and tucks his front paws inward and underneath his chest, you know he is trying to keep warm. It’s definitely cold then and he needs to be inside. If your rabbit is binkying up a storm in the snow for twenty minutes even I think it was worth going outside. Just don’t leave him unattended.
i just let him outside on the deck after lunch today and he loved it he was running around doing binkies he had a blast pics in a second.

oh, yes , he had fun!
Sun and snow, who wouldn’t love it? was he eating the snow in the last picture?
thanks for posting these, they’re awesome pictures!
i think he was.
I like that you were using a carrier by the looks of it to transport mocha to your deck. Good idea. You can never know if your bunny is going to spook and jump off while you are carrying him, especially to outdoors. One of mine gets excited when he sees he’s going outside and I use a carrier too for that reason. Only mine is a bit too small.
Lint is wondering why Neigey isn’t coming out…
this is where the carrier gets too small. I would call this transport abuse but it only takes a few seconds.
Deirdra looking why Mops isn’t coming…
hehe me thinks Deirdra needs a bigger carrier ![]()
Me bad bunny momma cause I haz bigger carrier but is too bulky to lug around.
you could get a little wagon to transport them around in… lol. I used to dress up my mom’s cat Jack when I was little and do that to him. Pull him around… and he was a big boy ![]()
I don’t think so…
Deirdra is slim now and she can slink in that little carrier quite well. She goes voluntarily.
was he eating the snow in the last picture?
Oh no! It looks like he is eating yellow snow! LOL!(doesn’t the snow look slightly yellow in front of his face)
It really looks like he had a wonderful time!
HOW CUTE!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bunny eat snow

yeah he had an accident and peed in the snow. so yeah its his own pee.
for some reason my rabbits believe that all snow is like litter. It is made to potty on it because it has some absorbency.
haha….. yesterday i didn’t have time for Lulu to go out
but i was wondering something, i know bunny’s should have like 3 hours or more of exercise a day and i was wondering when letting them out for exercise how big of an area do they need?
your room is fine. I remember you bunny-proofed it, didn’t you?
yes i did. its just a little messy right now cuz i forgot to do my laundry. i will try to clean it today.

These two photos are my favorite! What fun! I’m glad that your bunny ended up liking the supervised outdoor romp.
I am becoming more open to safer supervised outdoor romps. Growing up in frigid cold Alaska, but then living in Sunny California for most of my life, puts me at a disadvantage of experiencing the joys of “inbetween” (I’m like RabbitPam and think “brrrr” at 30F now) but I’m glad Mocha and Petzy’s bunnies can enjoy the outdoor fun, and Petzy had some good tips for judging the situation. (I’ll be keeping those in mind for the future)
mocha, if you are unsure if it’s too cold or not, you can of course set up a thermometer right where your rabbits’ outside play area is. Or, you can leave a drinking bowl with water outside. Leave it there all the time and if the water is liquid you know that it is at least above freezing even with wind and all.
well right now it is 44 F.
