I recently started giving my bunny fresh veggies. I tried giving her carrots, parsley, romaine lettuce leaves, but she refuses to eat it! I heard a ‘crunch’ sound out of the lettuce, but she didn’t eat anymore after that!!

Are some rabbits JUST really picky like us humans?

Should I try anything else? Basil? Etc? Suggestions?

It took me several tries with alot of different stuff before Monkey decided she liked it. Even her beloved raisins.. she turned her nose up at them. I had to keep shoving it at her face til eventually she’d grab it to toss it away from her.. and discovered its nommy goodness. Just keep trying

I had been looking forward to eating salad while she was eating lettuce as well.. but I’m thankful that she loves loves LOVES to eat hay!! I’ll keep trying. I know she will just sniff the veggies.. and walk away. I will be more persistant with it!!

Might as well try out different veggies, so she gets used to the taste of it. When I got Molly, she had for two years only lived off banana and pellets, and she did not want to eat veggies at all. I started out with the most delicious ones (basil, celery, et.c) which of course was not her cup of tea, but she slightly got used to it, and 7 months later, she will actually finish her broccoli first before even considering eating a treat.

Do you feed pellets also? If so, you may find she’ll try more veg when you start to limit the pellet intake as she grows.

Bunnies have preferences too, but they also need to get used to some things as Monkeybun said. She may not prefer the flavors of certain kinds. Broccoli is a family of veggies that taste very different from, say, green leaf lettuce, which is mild. don’t give too many different kinds at once, since it can upset their tummies. Try only one or two a week.
