        Hi everyone!

I have been baffled for a week or so.

My dwarf rabbit, Koucha (or Chacha to make it easier) is only in her cage (which is a XL dog kennel) when I am at work, which is 4 days a week. When I get home, she is let out, into her playpen and when I sleep, I minimize her playpen so she can play and hop back into her cage to eat, do her business, etc.

I will lay in her playpen for an hour or so and play with her, allow her to crawl on me, nibble my clothes, etc…

The past 2 days, she has been thumping when I am not in the playpen with her. I am not yelling, and do not have the TV too loud.. I am just baffled!!

I wonder what she is trying to tell me!! “Danger!” ”Give me attention!!”

She is a bit standoff-ish and independant and does not like to be picked up… but I do not know why she is thumping at me!! Perhaps to get my attention?

She may just be irritated that she isn’t having her way when she wants it. My Monkey thumps at me when I don’t bring her dinner fast enough.. lol

If thats the only time she thumps, then yeah, I suspect she just wants you to adore her.

when we first adopted Coco, she would thump at me when I removed my hand from rubbing her. She was not pleased, and wanted me to know that she required a great deal more grooming.

Occasionally Winston thumps when he wants attention.
Could she be hearing something from another apartment?

You are lucky shes not doing worse. Indy will RATTLE his fence at all hours, esp in the wee morning. Hes a brat!! He also thumps for no reason. she probably just wants out/attention. >_< Indy also alerted us to a serious ant problem in the house… he was constantly digging at the edge of the carpet… we pulled it back and there they were. So maybe get down on her level and listen/see if it could be soemthing other than needing attention!

Mellow thumped while he was on me last night! OWWW He was sitting on me vertically with his head on my shoulder when he fell deeply asleep. He was so relaxed that he started falling backwards. He looked so cute sound asleep with his head falling back that i just watched him. (And giggled quietly) He startled awake and was so scared\angry that he thumped ME on my side. OW. I think I have been taught a valuable lesson; do not let sleeping buns lie. Or fall. or something!

Yeah, I agree. I would say she wants your attention and isn’t happy that you arn’t playing with her. Lily does this in the morning. I’m usually up at five and she gets food and love in the morning. However, on the days that I get to sleep in, she’s thumping until i get up.

Amelia thumps when I first let her out for her morning exercise. I think it’s like a kick start. She does it once and then zooms around the room and binkies in the air.
