Hello There. I was thinking about making a bunny bread as a treat like you can make bird bread for birds, but I wasn’t sure if they could have flour. Or can they have any kind a wheat flour maybe? It wouldn’t be very much and like I said it would be a treat, but I thought I would check first. My thought was to use like raisins and apples and then put in handfuls of hey and fresh herbs and that kind of thing. Whatcha think?

Well, you wouldn’t want to feed your rabbit any kind of bread since it’s a carbohydrate. It’s a nice thought though :~)

I kinda thought that. I wonder if there is a substitute for it.

Why don’t you just use the apples and raisins as a treat?

I don’t vary my rabbits treats often but I sometimes give them the Garden Treats that the BinkyBunny store sells which is dried herbs and flowers.

I also like to give the acidophilous tablets as a treat.

I find that rabbits are very simple and happy with any treat.

I believe there are some recipes online. Usually it’s best to just mash up some fruits, and maybe some steal cut oats, together and bake them like a cookie.

i make bunny cookies vand they love them more than fruits.

                  1c    or 1/2 c of oats

1c or 1/2 c of pellets.            put them thru a coffee bean grinder                    or put the pellets in a strainer over a big bowl    to collect the pellet dust                                                  at the bottom of the bag            finally found a use for pellet dust               lol

then i put 1c or 1/2 c of blended up fruit             mix well will be kinda dry  thats ok

then i bake them 350 for 30 minutes

i put 2 measurements sometimes u may want to make more than others

i put the cookies in small lumps on a couple of pie pans     using no oil or butter     they easily scrape right off

lol…At first I thought this was going to be a pictures thread of a bunny snoozing in the ‘bunloaf’ position.
Sarita, I didn’t know you could give acidophilous tablets to bunnies. What does it do? Is it a tummy stabilizer, like how yogurt is for people?

I can’t imagine what it must taste like. But bunnies eat a lot of strange things I wouldn’t try myself.

Haha. I love when they loaf. I always call lily my little bun loaf. They look like a loaf a bread with a head. It’s great. I’ll try to get some pics.

I give my bunnies chewable Acidophilus tablets strawberry flavored- and they love them!  The ones I give are made by Nature’s Bounty but I know there are other brands- just make sure they are milk free.  But if you have buns with sensitive stomachs it may not be a good choice as they do have sugar products in them to make them a chewable tablet for humans.  But I started my buns off with a 1/4 tablet then 1/2 then 1 whole.  They are easy to break and refer to them as “wafers” not tablets.  I think they come in capsules (unflavored) and the chewable tablets at one time did come in 3 flavors I think- but I have only ever seen strawberry.

Our local Meijer or Walgeens often has them buy one get one free.
