Today, while scrubbing the room that the bunnies stay, I had a “jail” break lol. It’s a six hour cleaning job because I let hay and bedding fly and sit for weeks on end and since the room is SPECIFICALLY for critters I just let it get dirty LOL. It gets to the point where I have to break down cages, but that way I can deep clean and I always reorganize the room and it’s always super fun

While I was bringing Miso, Pepper, Poptart, and Sashimi in from the pen outdoors (they got to play in what was left of the snow) Pikanya decided it would be fun to jump the 3ft walls of MPP’s cage halfway through bringing them back indoors (I was letting Pikanya romp in their cage because I was busy going in and out the door and didn’t want to worry about an escape). Wasn’t really planning for that, but it was getting dark out so I kinda had to wait to put her away >.<

But when I came back I noticed how the room was a cluttered mess of cage-pen bits, bunny toys, food containers and water bottles. Made it hard for them to see, chase, kill eat… etc LOL. I didn’t see much drama from anybody, just the usual chasing if in reach. So I was like “Ehh. No one is dying so I’ll just leave them! ” Poptart and Pikanya hit it off, as I saw them together more than Pikanya with the others.

I decided vacuuming would be a GREAT idea as I’m still working on Miso’s relationship with Sashimi, and since Pikanya is the same size as Poptart (o_o she’s not even three months old!) I decided to start introducing her in since I plan to bond them all together come Spring. I figured some stress/distraction bonding would be nice for a change to see what would happen

Me constantly moving things and vacuuming at the same time sent them all going “O_O SHE’S MOVING ALL THE HIDEY SPOTS” and they all ended up hiding together in a corner of the room where I wasn’t vacuuming. It didn’t stress them to bad; Pikanya wanted to know what it was but because I zoomed it around so fast she’d recoil. They pretty much piled up on top of each other LOL Which was amazing because grump Miso was in the middle. They’d all rush back to the corner when I started vacuuming again (had to empty the container several times) and wait till I was done, and after that I saw a noticeable lack of aggression when someone got too close.

Miso only got on to Sashimi like twice.
Pretty sure I never saw Pikanya get chased at all o.O

No grooming or humping through, so I can’t say it works wonders it you’re wanting an instant fix, but it might help if someone wants to try it

Vacuums are a very good way to stress bond animals. Most don’t like the noise however, I did notice that mine became accustomed to it if the evil thing wasn’t moving towrads them.

Are all your rabbits altered now?

Good for you that it seemed to help with the bonding session. Wouldn’t work with mine – they stick their heads into the vacuumer when it is on to find out where all the poops and hay disappear to. So vacuuming is only stressful for me and not them.

Yeah, maryann decided to fight the vacuum once. Surprised the heck out of me and was funny to see her face get sucked into the tube. WEll I was frightened first but then was laughing so hard when she was all right.

I have to admit Pebbles is leary of the vacuum. When I first started sticking the wand in her pen – she was usually in her outdoors exercise area. So no harm no faul. But, not so long ago with the weather getting cooler I needed to vacuum and she was in her indoors x-pen, she stayed at the opposit side – but then curiosity took over. Pebbles hopped over the the middle area and decided not to move, I brought hose near -er, and near -er.. she just glared at it. So – I positioned the hose about eye level with her and about 10 inches away from her face. Her nose was sniffing, sniffing – hard to smell a vacuum when it is sucking in. That’s when she got a little too close and her fur, whiskers and face was sucked to end of the wand. Immediately she boxed the wand and was across the pen in a flash – giving me and the vacuum dirty looks. I cried in laughter which earned me “the backside” and a couple of “foot flicks”… but it was worth it. Believe me.
