Wow…decided to palapte her abdomen, since I’m so conscious of Mimzy’s now, and it seems…um…full. 0_o A little TOO full.

Pip is sadly the biggest lump of the bunch. You bring her out for fun and she likes to just hide for hours…by the time I’m ready to put her away, only THEN does she decide she wants to run (usually FROM me, so I don’t put her back.)

What kind of exercise regimen do you put together for a lackadasical bunny who could stand to lose a couple of pounds and some ounces in change?

I don’t think she’ll chase the cats’ laser pointer.

Actually, Lintini has a great idea! I just started clicker training. He caught on really quickly (especially since we’ve already been working on tricks before I started the clicker training). It’s a great mental and physical workout for bunnies. clickerbunny.com has a bunch of great resources to get started. Once she knows what the click means, you could start with target training (I attached a little wooden ball to the end of a foot long thin dowel rod, similar to an old school teacher’s pointer stick) and then teach her to touch the ball at the end of the stick. Then you can hold the stick in different places and have her follow it. If she’s willing, you can make small hurdles and train her to run those too!

That would help you bond with her too!

I haven’t started using a clicker, but “stand” and “spin around” will give her a little work out, too. You can use greens to train her with so that she doesn’t gain more.

*covers Pippi’s ears* Psst! Must remember Pip is part palomino so she may appear a little hefty.

There are 3 things that get my rabbits moving. One is dividing their space into narrow passage ways. The other thing is making things BIG. Last thing, and the best way to get my own rabbits really moving, is outdoors. I know it is totally neither safe nor practical in most cases, but outside my rabbits get training for the next Olympics. They get especiallly fast when there is a little wind.

Hey Jerz…I know, that’s what I was thinking too. But this morning I felt her tummy and it was all tight again, so I’m wondering if it’s not gas or just the extra ‘water weight’ from her new veggie regimen?
Popped 0.3 ml of simethicone in just in case. Boy she hates that stuff. Not anywhere near as cooperative as Mimz with this med.
She’s been a bit on the grouchy side lately too. Nipped my hand this morning during cleanup.

Petzy I would LOVE to get her outdoors…still too cold and snowy though for any of them. I look forward to getting them out there this summer though. Mimzy will be thrilled. I don’t know how Fiver will handle it though.

Can you clicker train a rabbit without the clicker? I can’t seem to take it far enough away that it doesn’t get Fiver thumping. He hates that noise.
