May the best team win!
I can’t say I really care this year. I don’t mind either team, but I guess I’ll root for the Colts because I have friends who are big fans.
Me either. I would love the Saints to win though since it’s their first time. Otherwise I’m honestly not a football fan unless it’s the Dallas Cowboys.
I’ve got it on the TV in the background now. If I had to pick, I’d go with New Orleans. I assume they are the Saints, right? LOL
It’s been 2 weeks of major hype here in S. Florida. People were getting hotel rooms north of Miami into Broward county and Palm Beach County. (where I am.) At my job, a Performing Arts Center with a Museum, we worked with the Chamber of Commerce to host these events where NFL players came up to sign autographs and throw footballs with kids. One veteran Dolphins player , Mark Duper, laid low in my museum for a while, so I got my picture taken with him. really sweet man – wish I knew who he was! I just saw the commercial where Larry Bird appeared with young basketball players who didn’t know him. That’s my vintage – Boston Celtics with Bird and The Chief. Ah, the good old days with a game that moves a lot faster than football!!!!! (2 hours is 2 hours, not twelve.)

Here ’tis. My reason for dieting…I only want one chin.
Great picture Pam! He looks like a doll. I love that everyone is benefiting from the Super Bowl in Miami…it’s supposed to be at the Cowboy Stadium next year and I’m jazzed about that. One year we had some of the World Cup Soccer events in Dallas and it was so good for everyone.
Yes, some little kids upstairs in the museum got wind that he was in there, so he signed some autographs for them. (shhh, don’t tell.)
I think if the Dolphins had gotten to the SuperBowl, or even the Patriots, I would have made an attempt to get tickets. But I like my bunny and a clear TV at home better right now. ![]()
Go Colts in 2011! (are they opposite or in the same league as the Dolphins?)
Cute picture, Pam! Even if the hype was annoying, I think it would be kind of fun every once in a while to have all the excitement.
I showed hubby your post and his comment was “Duper was the same time period as Bird.” Haha. Don’t worry, I didn’t know who Duper was either 😉
A friend’s girlfriend works in food service at the ESPN headquarters here in CT. She knows nothing about sports, so she’ll see some famous sports player on tv and say “Oh, I just saw him in the cafeteria last week! He was so nice but I had no idea who he was.” Haha. That would so be me.
LOL Obviously the Bird/Duper decade was the BEST!!!!
Thank your husband for me.
That was when I went to some super Super Bowl parties. 4 bachelors I used to work with shared a farmhouse on an apple orchard, and they hosted “farm parties.” We’d go with tons of food and beer and set up TVs in two or three rooms. The wives and girlfriends would eat and chat in one room and the guys – and I – would watch the game. If I’m going, I’m going to pick a team and follow the game. Not nearly as many commercials as I remember. or maybe there were and no one had to worry about a bathroom break.
My hubby is off watching the game at his dad’s place… i opted out
I’ll let the boys have their fun while I stay home with the bunnies ![]()
I really love that this game brings people together!
I don’t really care for football (I pretty much just watch it for the commercials) but we were watching the halftime show and Archie was out in the living room. He does not care for The Who
As soon as they started playing his ears went forward, he ran behind the couch and thumped about 5 times. He finally came out, ears all forward, looking around trying to figure out where it was coming from
He finally calmed down but after they were done. I figure that in a past life he was one of those old guys that said “I don’t understand this loud music…The Who?! Who are they?? Dang kids! *thump*” ![]()
Haha. Or maybe he’s really a Who fan and was thinking “What the heck are they doing? They sound awful and out of tune!” He had to thump to protest how far they’ve fallen 😉
I didn’t think they were that bad (not as bad as some “old guy” rockers who have been on) but most people I know thought they sounded awful.
They ARE old guys!
We should stop calling them The Who, and change it to The Why?
(and I should know. I listened to them in junior high. when they weren’t much older.)
Pam, the Who are one of my top 3 favorite bands of all time – I wish I could’ve seen them live when they were in their prime!
I did have to laugh at the drummer they found for the Superbowl. He was obviously picked because he looks kind of like Keith Moon and he had some of the mannerisms. They probably said they’d pay him a lot of money to do his best Moon impression. Haha. Still didn’t have the crazy energy Moon had, but I was impressed by his effort, especially since he probably wasn’t alive when the real Keith Moon was.
Think he “moon” lights as an Elvis impersonator off season?
My brother had the first album, Tommy, and I used to listen to it about a million times. I have the entire thing memorized to this day. I can’t hear it anymore. We have the Pinball Wizard pinball machine on display at work, with Ann-Margret painted on the backglass (she posed for it) and I couldn’t believe they opened with that song. I have Pinball coming out of my ears, literally. (They always had superior instrumentals to their peers. And it was the first Rock Opera ever made. Very cool at the time.)
Am I seeing this right? Are they still just one point apart?
The first cd I ever owned was Tommy – my dad gave it to me 🙂 I was definitely raised on classic rock.
I can’t believe how close it is either! I hope they don’t go into overtime though. I’d rather go to sleep than watch for another hour 😛
Woo Hoo!
No overtime probably – the Saints just had a touchdown!
I should have made a bet with someone.
I just learned that the drummer is actually Ringo Starr’s son and has been playing with them for a while. Pretty cool! I don’t think he looks anything like Ringo.
Ringo had his pick of women once he got famous, so he probably enhanced the family gene pool considerably with his son’s mother.
That 2 points was good. I’m amazed. Does the ref get to see the playback in slow motion before deciding the final call?
I know a good referee joke.
Haha we did say he might be trying to thump to the beat. Or possibly saying they were bad too lol! I guess I’m just from a younger generation, they were ok but I wish they’d put a younger group as a 1/2 time act. At least country, you know you’re safe with that (no older people though, more like Rascal Flatts or Keith Urban yum!).
I’m a little disappointed with the commercials, they’re not that funny. Nothing really interesting either.
Hubby says that refs do get to see the play a bunch of times before making the final call if they need to.
I think the Saints have this now. But Indy could come back; they have plenty of time.
And lol at Ringo. Didn’t he marry a Bond girl?
Finally – a really excellent play. ![]()
Hubby liked the Megan Fox commercial ::rolls eyes:: I really don’t like her, but I think most men love her.
I liked the Punxatawney Polamalu commercial. But I’m biased, because I’m from Pittsburgh. I also like the one with the little kid who slapped his mom’s date and told him not to touch his mom or his Doritos. Haha. Cute kid.
And there are at least some of us who don’t like country, Skibunny 😛 I don’t think you’re safe with anything – some part of the population will hate it. I can see the point of having a younger act on, but then someone pointed out to me that the majority of SB tickets are purchased by the 45+ crowd, so I guess it makes sense to have older acts to sell tickets.
Whoa, nice run from the Saints! No way Indy is coming back now.
Oh when the saints go marchin’ in….
There’s only 3 minutes left to go. I figure another 40, 50 minutes tops.
I’m starting to like Denny’s screaming chickens.
I liked the screaming chickens where the chicken screamed in space and you couldn’t hear it. Lol.
Woo thanks for the timeline Pam, was wondering about what time hubby would be home lol.
I like the Doritos commercials. Haha ok not everyone likes country…..but I meant safe by not showing a boob or swearing in their songs hehe! Yeah you make a good point with the older crowd.
Oh, yes, haha. No wardrobe malfunctions there.
I think Townshend showing his belly while doing windmills on the guiter counts as a wardrobe malfunction. Ick.
watch it, bubbas, I LIKE country
Monkeybun, don’t forget about traffic. OK, it’s over. Saints won!!!
(And you can’t imagine how bad the traffic jams in Miami are going to be starting five minutes ago.)
I know that hubby will hang out with his dad a bit after its done. So I won’t expect him for another 2 hours or so. hehe
I think New Orleans was due, after Katrina and everything they’ve been through.
He’ll be home after a few snack stops, MB.
To quote a great Miami star, Jackie Gleason, “G’night Everybody!”
G’night, Pam! I had fun chatting while halfway watching the game 😉
Me, too, Elrohwen. Thanks for keeping me company while it was on. Thanks for starting this thread, Sarita. We crepusculars need our naptime now.
Who Dat woot yay Saints lol my kids and hubby went crazy ![]()
Had to chime in! I was a Warriorette (ra-ra) in high school & we did our state competition routine to “Won’t Get Fooled Again” by the Who…shows my age! Also, my nephew was in the “Sketchers” commercial. He is going to Long Beach University studying music/voice/etc. & just started doing some modeling for extra $$$. Was so cool to see him on TV!!!![]()
