My spayed female lop is 3.5 years old, and after her husbun died this summer we have decided to get a new boy for her.  We picked up a young rabbit who is 2.5months old at this point and is this not neutered at this time (when he gets old enough, he will be).  My question is do I need to wait until he is neutered to bond them?  I know it helps, but is it a must?  Also, what age will he be less “baby” and more adult so that it wont be a baby-adult bond (which is easy) but one that wont break when he becomes older?  Of course, I want to wait a few weeks at least until he is stronger so that he can hold his own against my spunky headstrong girl.  But Id rather get them together asap because i feel my girl is depressed – especially with the baby around she is getting super jealous.

I would just wait until he’s neutered. I don’t think there’s any harm in introducing them and letting them out together as long as there’s no aggression, but I wouldn’t let them live together full time. You’re definitely right that the baby-adult bond could be very easy but could break just as easily at 4-6 months. Luckily males can usually be done at 3-4 months, so you should be able to get him neutered super quickly and then start the true bonding.
