i set up julias cage accross from charlie and jack.  i let julia out by herself since she had a long car ride. i left the boys in their pen and wanted to see how they would react to each other before i let them out without a barrier between them.  julia went up to the cage and started boxing and trying to bite charlie through the bars. charlie just looked surprised. he was just wanting to sniff her.  she went back over a few more times and she would sniff charlie and then try to bite and box him.  the last time she did it charlie fought back and julia growled at him the whole time. charlie didnt look like he was biting but just trying to defend himself by boxing her paws and face.  charlie doesnt seem to be aggressive toward julia. he just seems curious.  they were not in nuetral territory, but julia doesnt have any territory here since she has onle been here a day.  so i thought if anything that charlie would be the one that was upset. looks like i have some work ahead of me lol. where would i start with this whole thing? also jack wanted nothing to do with her. at first when he saw her he put his ears facing forward and looked at her across the room. then he went and hid in his house until he was sure that she was put away.  poor little guy.  i aslo wanted to add that julia is about 8 lbs and jack is 3.5 lbs and charlie is 4.5 lbs. im worried that she can hurt them pretty bad if she does attack them. any suggestions for where to start or what to do?? thanks everyone!

I would only let Julia see one of your other rabbits at a time. Don’t let the through-the-bars aggression escalate as it will make bonding them harder.
Start with sessions between Jack and Julia with stressors and confined, not when Julia is moving about. yes, she may be aggressive but it is your job to stop her from hurting anyone. If Julia gets to bite Jack, even through the bars, he may decide to get back at her and so on.

ok, so since jack is the more submissive bunny out of him and charlie then i should bond him with her first? i thought i was supposed to bond the dominant one? is the bath tub ok or should they start in a smaller space since she is aggressive?

it depends. if Julia were really aggressive you may prefer to start out bonding her with an easy-going bunny, Jack. You can also change your mind at any point if things aren’t going well and bond her to Charlie first. The reason it is hard to tell which ones to bond first is that each rabbit acts differently with another rabbit. Jack may be be submissive one with Charlie but maybe not with Julia.
