Twix lives in a nice and fairly big store bought cage.. hershey lives in a smaller store bought cage….. i was consitering doing what lintini did and making my closet into a cage for twix and putting hershey in the BIG store bought cage…  (hershey is pretty small alot smaller than twix so it would be plenty of room for her plus she gets LOTs of free run around time) my only concern is the cost for the materials… x-pens, and NIC grids…. as you all know im saving up for hershey and Twix’s spays…. so i really do not have the spare cash to buy materials… and again my mother will not help with the cost.. she belive the store bought cages are fine.

        HELP!!!!!!!

If you don’t have the money for it, theres really nothing you can do. I’d save for the speutering, myself. And then I’d save every cent possible for future vet bills, they can get quite spendy, especially for a younger person who can’t work yet!

You give them free time for a few hours everyday right? So they do get out of their cage – I think I read a post that you do so I would focus on saving for the spueters.

NIC grids are currently 14.99 at Target right now and the zip ties are 2.99 for a pack of 100. (Medium size).

Are there chores around the house you can do and have your mom pay you weekly? Do the dishes everynight, set the table, vacuum, etc?

What about selling candy at school? You can buy a large box then sell the candy for 1$ or $1.50 each and I think you could make some change to help out. I know when I was in highschool a lot of kids fund raised that way. Sitting in class being hungry and some kid with a huge bag of candy…everyone was buying it from them. And as long as you aren’t using the money to buy clothing and it’s going to help your rabbits. When my marching band went to China, kids were coming up with tons of different ideas on how to raise money for the trip – that was one of them.

You can’t fund raise for anything? That’s too bad really.

I agree that I would wait on bigger cages until you’re able to get both spay/neutered. If I were you, I would invest a few dollars into some dog clips to attach to the store bought cages… some rabbits can find their way out of cages by jimmying the door open… and with two unaltered buns in the same room, that would be disastrous. I wouldn’t recommend a free-range closet situation until he was neutered anyways…. Just provide plenty of daily, supervised exercise time.
