Oops……. i did it again… ![]()

Many of you told me to get Hershey “squared” away before i get another bun.
and i was going to i really was, but i just couldnt resist..
I put up babysitting flyers where i live.. and im buying hershey an x-pen and im picking up her “bunny friend” tonight…. the babysitting thing will help my get the money to get them both fixed… im not sure if the new bun is going to be male or female.. the owner thinks its male but isnt 100% sure..thank god i work at a pet store. im putting in a picture… it looks almost identical to Hershey but it is not Hershey…

Have you made the vet appointment to get Hershey fixed?
Please invest in one to two closed cages that are quite separate and can’t allow either bun to escape or jump over.
With two unfixed bunnies, you have a serious chance of their meeting and either starting a litter or fighting dangerously.
Please make the appt. with the vet right away.
they will never meet untill i get them fixed… i have been calling all the vets lately trying to find the one that offers the most for the least $… either way i still have to get the money.. im not old enough to get a real job so it is more difficult coming up with the money to sputer them
to clarify:
the new bun will be in my room and hershey is staying in my little sisters room (thats where she lives anyways) they are not allowed out when we are not supervising them anyways… and neither will be out at the same time…
I would suggest if you let them out to run, don’t allow them to run in the same area, even if at separate times. They will smell each other and the hormones may start acting up and there will be territory marking.
wow that bunny is stunning I love that color
just got back from picking it up…. i do belive it is a girl.. it has the skin under its chin… I NEED SUGGESTIONS FOR NAMES! btw it is a darker colour than in the pic..
Don’t forget, K&K’s Rupert has a dewlap, and so do some other boys. Don’t use that as an indicator ![]()
Congratulations
He/She is lovely and very like Hershey!
I hope you don’t feel we are all getting on your case too much but I do want to ditto what others have said. Please take great care to keep them separate. Sturdy locks on cages, shutting bedroom doors etc. Many of us have seen it happen too often before, 2 unfixed rabbits somehow getting together. Get this one seen by a vet and sexed properly. It’s good to have a vet look over a new rabbit anyway so that you don’t put your other rabbit at risk of catching anything. Also, you can know any health issues asap on the newbie.
Didn’t your mother agree on having Hershey spayed? Will she help you pay for this or do you have to raise the funds yourself?
On this thread’s title – you’re not bad doing things this way. You just have to be ultra careful and responsible. Again…congratulations.
Try getting ahold of your local humane society like I did! Only 70$ for male, 100$ for female and is done by bunny savvy vets!
thanks Lintini,
and jersey, my mom thinks its a waste of money so i have topay for everything myself
More pics…. anyone have ideas on what breed? im thinking rex
We decided to name it Twix ![]()
Twix is a good name.
I can never tell a rex until it sheds and becomes an adult. If it’s coat still feels just like velvet, then it is. Also, rexes don’t have much fur on their paws. The bottoms especially.
Since she’s brand new and that makes two, I would save $12 (maybe $24) a month and buy pet insurance. I use VPI. The don’t cover the cost of a spay, but once you apply, wait their initial waiting period, and get accepted, it will help you save hundreds for treatments over the years. Two bunnies is twice as much potential expensive vet bills, and only one bad incident can really wipe you out or endanger a bunny if you’re strapped. This way you will have some protection already set up. You need it when they are still healthy, because you can be turned down for a pre-existing condition, and won’t get coverage if you have an illness just happen. I know you are saving for the speuter first (very important, and asap) but you can apply now and get an OK, or wait just a short while once you know they are both healthy and then get it, like in a year or so. It’s best if there may be a problem with teeth, GI stasis, falls or breaks, and as they reach old age. (Around 5 years).
S/he’s cute. ![]()
The fur doesn’t look rexy, neither do the whiskers. S/he is very cute though! One of my favorite colors too.
i have more pics!!! i was thinking rex because of the shape of its head… going up to the pet store in a few to get it checked ill let you know what i find out ![]()
Well, sure, it’s a waste of money…. if you want a bazillion little bunnies running around (which, obviously, we all do… but let’s be practical)
And…..
Twix is a girl !!!!!!!!
heres those pics i promised
Its adding them wierd…
She’s very cute! Her fur looks super shiney too.
I had a few gerbils that exact same color (it’s called burmese in gerbils) and I adore it.
How big is she? How much does she weigh? How old is she?
she is 14 months (1 year 2 months) around 6 pounds? and she makes hershey seem small…. in bunny they are siamese sables… the colouring is just off right now because its winter
Someone at the petstore sexed her? I’m sorry to harp on about this but you need to be 200% positive on the sex. I would have suggested to look for testicles but even that is not a sure-fire way. Males can pull them up into the abdomen and fool us. Sneaky buns!! Prob wise to keep the bun apart anyway even if it is 2 unspayed Does. That’s a bummer about having to pay for op yourself!!
Yes.. i completely trust the owner of the pet store.. everytime i get a bunny i take it up to her to get sexed
she used to be a vet assistant or something like that.. but she knows her bunnies and has never been wrong before. And untill they are fixed they will stay apart…
Thats sad you have to pay for the whole thing yourself. Are there extra chores you can do? Being too young for a real job is a bummer. Best wishes to you
Be careful I just may bun nap your beautiful bunnies. I just love that coloring.
Breed has been identified… she is a cinnamon rabbit / american
