i was wondering what everyone thinks about these. i have given my rabbits the logs but i scooped out all the seeds and other stuff and put timothy hay in the middle. i recently bought them the big log that is like a small tunnel. i thought it might be good to wear down their teeth since they like to chew it. then i realized that it probably isnt good for them since it is a snack. but i would like everyone else’s opinions and whether they give them to their bunnies.

Well, I don’t usually give my bunnies treats like that simply because I’m not sure where they’re made and of what, but your post reminded me that I had to look for a new willow basket for mine…good to munch and to sit in! ^_^
However, after doing a brief search I can’t find the one I bought recently…it’s called the Twigloo. If anyone knows what company makes this, please PM me.
Just be sure that items you give your bunnies to chew on do not contain nuts, seeds, corn or any other strange ingredients or that they’re not made from pine, which has oils and saps that are not good for bunnies. Those are the first things that come to mind. I’m sure one of the other forum members can fill in the blanks for me.

read the ingredients on the package- you will not be impressed.  I think that snak shacks and logs have been discussed before and dismissed as another product made for pet owners not really the pets.

I also have not used one. Have you tried willow toys for the buns? Willow is very natural, it tastes yummy to them, and it deters them from chewing other stuff they’re not supposed to.

The oxbow grass huts are great too, Monkey loves shredding and eating hers! And she loves sleepign in it too. SHe has the tunnel as well, she likes sitting on top of that one.

My bun really likes cardboard tunnels. I think you can get them at the hardware store as concrete forms, though I snagged mine at work 😛 Cardboard tunnels are nice and chewable.

I bought one WAaaaaay back when I was just becoming a bunny mom. Kokanee ate the entire roof in 3.5 seconds and the rest of it was never touched. I kept it around as Kahlua would hop in and out sometimes but eventually just threw it out.
Also it’s sized for a very small guinea pig-was not really appropriate for a rabbit size-wise at all (Like to hide in)
The ingredients, as mentioned, aren’t great:

                    http://exoticpets.about.com/od/generalresources/gr/snakshak.htm

“The Snak Shak line of products is heavily promoted as being edible. The packaging on mine advertised that it was made from “fresh alfalfa and golden honey” making it sound quite appealing (though I generally recommend avoiding sweetened snacks). However, the full ingredient list is pine wood shavings, cassava starch, alfalfa, straw liquid mix (water, sodium alginate, potassium sorbate, propionic acid, honey, glycerin, propylene glycol), cotton thread, bamboo, straw, and paper cord. The alfalfa may explain why it was not so appealing to my rats as an edible chew toy (rats tend to not like alfalfa and are said to not be able to digest it well). Looking at the list of ingredients, I think I would stick with plain, untreated wood products for chewing value, especially for rats. “

You want to stay away from any hard seeds like those in the snack shacks as they can cause issues with the bun’s digestive track.

The snack shacks I believe are made of alfalfa so not so good in that respect.
