Is it like a hole in his skin? You should definitely take him in to the vet and have him checked out. With the risk of infection or it turning into an abcess, always better safe than sorry. Are there any sharp edges or wire pieces he could have gotten caught on? Are there any emergency vets near you that take rabits? Definitely keep an eye on him-make sure he is eating, drinking, peeing, and pooing.

I would absolutely take him to the vet. Does anything look red or inflamed?

Do rabbits get skin tags? I had a dog who got them constantly – not sure if rabbits can get them though.

Just keep an eye on him. The infection or abcess is why I would call your vet, see when you can get him in to be seen. Is it dry or crusty at all?

I know sometimes it looks like these things will heal but what often happens in most skin breaks on a rabbit is they get an abscess-and because of how rabbits heal -abscesses do not go away on their own -I’m very glad your taking him in to the vet.

On the emergency vet thing-your right I wouldn’t rush for this and pay double at an e vet-it’s a GOOD idea to see if you have an evet. If it’s stasis or serious trauma you just don’t have time to be going through the yellow pages. So use your yellow pages now, and google-and locate an emergency vet now-or a vet who is open later -or ask your vet for her/his home phone number in case of an emergency. This cut-didn’t need an evet but we ALL should have a number we can call in an emergency

He’s leaving poos cuz he is marking the new area. Once it is His, he should be back to normal litter habits Just keep picking them up and putting them in the box.

Does he get time outside of his pen?

That cage looks like a very good size (though I’m not sure how big your bunny is) as long as he gets exercise time. There’s definitely enough room in there for him to hop around and stretch his legs.

He will poop outside of his box to mark. Just pick it up and put it in the box. Its just what they do, theres nothing you can do to make him stop marking. And try to pick him up when he isn’t in his cage, its better that way.

If he wont come out, then you’ll have to lure him out. Is it a pen, or a cage?

Not much if he wouldn’t come out. I have cages and pens for both of mine, I don’t pick them up in the cage, but I do in the pen.

If there’s room enough to sit inside his cage (I like your set up as pictured, btw) you can stick your legs out and pull him in toward you between your legs. Then hold him in place, using your legs to help, and apply the cream with one hand while giving him head pets with the other. It may work if he’s comfortable with you and likes to be on the floor.

Also, when he’s on the floor, you can pet his head and gently but firmly press him on his shoulders to hold him down, while applying the cream. His wound is on his back, so he can be in a meatloaf position while you work on it. Holding the shoulders is a move that says to him that you are dominant, and he should hold still for that.

Oh, he won’t come out at all?
To get him out, play on his appetite and curiosity. Open his cage, sit away from the opening, or lie down, and read a book. Have a treat (a raisin or banana slice) next to your leg or arm, clearly visible. Then ignore him. Leave the entrance to his cage open and don’t block it. He may get curious, smell the treat, and come out over to you. Don’t grab at him. Let him explore at his own pace, but do this where he can’t get into trouble once he’s out.

Keep trying that. If you want, put on a TV to watch so there are continuous noises while you lie on the floor to watch, so he won’t be startled by the change in the quiet. Just put on something like people talking, rather than action dramas that have sudden noises.
