Arduina passed a hairball this morning.  I didn’t actually see it come out but it definitely happened (on the carpet not in the litterbox) this morning.. Needless to say I had a difficult time eating my breakfast after I saw it, it looked like two poops strung together.  Other than not eating all her lettuce and greens (kale/collards) this week, she has been eating and pooping fine.  I just thought she was becoming a picky bunny eating carrot, cilantro, and parsley and leaving behind the not so flavorful veggies.  She gets 1/2C of T-pellets a day (she’s less than a year old and about 6lbs) and always eats those first (I split it up into 1/4 C morning/evening).

This morning she ate about 1/8C of the pellets and so I took out the rest to encourage her to eat hay. I gave her a nice size portion of veggies (collards, romaine, carrot, and cilantro).  She went right for the carrot as usual.  So I’m guessing I did the right thing to encourage more fiber?

She doesn’t get papaya tablets because I would have to special order them and the Vet guy in the video that Sarita posted said papaya and pineapple dont do much.

I would take the carrot away too – it’s really more of a treat and she should be focusing on the leafy greens instead. Otherwise, you did a good job taking away some pellets and pushing the hay and veggies.

Just watch her eating and pooping and if she stops pooping I would call the vet for advice.

Well rabbits don’t get hairballs so are you saying she has lots of strings of pearl type poops? Because that is actually good, it means that things are passing through. Yes, lots of hay and water is the best thing. Carrots are okay but at this point I would focus on the leafy greens and hay.

Also keeping her active is a good thing as well.

Arduina is running and jumping around as usual. It was only two ‘pearls’ strung together by fiber and hair. I’ll think she’ll be ok but we will keep an eye on her.
