  So i found this amazing rabbit rescue near where i live. And they foster out bunnies. i talked to my mom about it and she told me to check and see what fostering a bunny is all about… in her words thats basically saying “sounds good to me, but just do some research and find out what this is all about” im soo excited!!   So according to the shelter, if you have another bunny in the home it MUST be fixed. this might be a bit of an issue :S my mom isnt interested in getting hershey fixed…

  Oh, that’s a bummer. Yeah, it’s pretty much a rule at most places that the animals be fixed if you’re going to foster or adopt from them. I’m sorry.

  great news! i just convinced my mom to get hershey fixed! im going to pay for it… now she’ll have a happier healthier life!

  That’s great that you might be getting a foster (and getting your bun fixed). I frequent that rescue’s website and I think it seems like a really great rescue to work with.

  So my mom gave me a huge suprise!!! instead of fostering a bunny…. WERE GOING TO ADOPT ONE!!!! he’s not from the rescue tho…. he’s a lionhead like hershey except 1)he actually lives up to his breed and owns a mane and 2) he’s pure white!! i’ll post pictures when we go and pick him up because the pictures i have dont belong to me and i would like to respect the person who took them by not posting them on the internet..
  IM SOO EXCITED… it looks like i’ll be getting my christmas present after all
  
  Also i need ideas for name… im going to change his name…. my current bunnies name is Hershey so i’m hoping to get something that corosponds with her name… (lol like my old bunny kisses’s name)

  Hmm let me think.. I believe Hershey’s introduced another kind of Hershey’s kiss called Hugs… He certainly looks huggable to me :p
  
  Edit: Hershey’s Hugs had the regular milk chocolate with some added white chocolate swirls… his white fur made me think of that

  The only white choc thing I can think of is Raffaelo. As in the Ferrero Rocher Raffaelo? White truffle thingy coated in coconut?

  she did the unthinkable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The person i was going to adopt the new bunny from sold the bunny!!! even after i told her that i was coming to pick him up on sunday!!! i cant belive it!! i told her i was coming… nothing… e-mailed her again and a day later she tells me that someone else had just bought it

  now i have to start looking all over again.. i want to get hershey a companion before she gets to old and before she forgets that there are more living things than humans and cats… (she was feeling pretty lonely when we sold kisses, even though they didnt get along it was still some type of company for her)

  Sorry to hear the plans didn’t work out but there are LOTS of great bunnies out there. What about taking Hershey to the Rabbit Rescue to meet some bunnies?

  we wouldnt be able to go down more than once.. if that.. and im looking at getting one her age and those one are to old or to young.. if my buns do live as long as they should i dont want one going before the other…

  I’m sorry Miranda. That was pretty rotten of her to do. I do want to point out though that despite this disappointment, you have made some progress toward getting a 2nd bunny. Since your Mum hass now agreed to have Hershey spayed, perhaps move ahead on this and then things will be more ready for when you bring a friend home for her. It will make for a bettter bond having her and future bun both fixed.

  Sorry that happened to you, someone here just recently had that happen to them as well. People can really be so unkind. When I picked up Bun I made quadruple sure that the lady wasn’t going to adopt her out from under my feet since It was a 2 hour drive to pick her up. The good news is, there are so so many other bunnies that need love and a nice family to care for them that I know you can open up your heart and home to another. Keep your chin up, I know another bun will find you soon.

  It doesn’t really matter what age the bunny is, although adult is better. One bunny will pass before the other. That’s just a fact of life. But it is very possible to bond a remaining bunny to a new mate after the first mate has passed away. And hopefully, this is not something you’d even need to worry about for a long time. Remember, even if two buns are the same age… one might pass at 5 years, one might go at 12 years. There’s no way to know.
  
  I am very sorry about your prospective bun being sold. I would also recommend you get Hershey “squared away” (spayed) first, let her heal up, and then continue looking for a second bun.

  Not sure what the story was on the first bunny…where were you getting him from? Was it from an individual or was trying to find their rabbit a new home?
