  DH & I spent xmas w/ the family in Chgo. I was anxious about the trip b/c my oldest cat, Max has suffered from serious muscle wasting and has lost a significant amt of wt. The only option for him is exploratory surgery which I can’t afford right now, even w/ my Care Credit Card. So I’ve been really scared that he will die when I’m not home. He’s 13 y.o. so onto the bunnies.
  
  The pet sitter reported that everything went well when we weren’t home. We came home on 12/31. On 1/1 I noticed that Leo & Jess weren’t eating all their pellets & veggies. I also found significantly smaller poops in Leo’s areas. I began critical care in addition to the pellets & veggies. I continued all weekend. My regular vet, sent me a card via snail mail on m vacay, stating that he is/was leaving the practice at the end of December. Which I was heart broken, I really liked him!!! On a separate note, he sent the card from his home address. Is it creepy for me to send him a letter asking where he is going to?
  
  We wanted to take him to the vet over the weekend, but no bunny people were working that weekend. They suggested that I take him to the emergency practice (UPenn). I decided not to b/c I have spoken w/ UPenn on many occasions and have been told that they are not small mammal vets in the ER. They can provide “standard supportive care” and work through some of the emergency issues (i.e. stasis), but their bunny specialist only provide consults during the regular workday. I thought if I continued the critical care & encouraged some veggie eating he’d be ok. His weight has not fluctuated. He tends to weigh 4.25 to 4.5 lbs. He’s been steady at 4.25. DH & I have serious transportation issues an my vet practice is not convenient w/o our second car. So should I continue w/ critical care, weight monitoring, & pushing the veggies? Take him to UPenn (it is 5 blocks from my house)? Work out something w/ DH to see about getting him in w/ our regular vet practice? Wait & see?
  
  Besides the small poops, he has been fine. I have noticed that he has not been as voracious or excited by his veggie salad (as usual). He still is a treat pig and has been drinking fine. Am I just being overly freaky?

  Maybe they had less exercise while you were away? Hay + fluids should get things going. You could try syringe feed pedilyte along with criti care. Do you think it was change in their routine that bought this on perhaps?
  
  I don’t think it’s creepy to ask vet for details of where he’s going. For him to notify you, makes me think he’s giving clients opportunity to do this. The former practice may not have allowed him to do this thru them if he was part of a group. Something like a card “sorry to hear your leaving – thank you for you care….by the way, if you’re setting up somewhere else I’d love to know…”etc etc
  
  btw; i found it amusing that you’re asking if something is creepy, you being the mental health professional and all.

  Sometimes just eating less or just eating less hay can cause small poopies. I’d watch the treats while he’s pooping little poopies=something is a bit off so you don’t want a sugar imbalance. Try for greens (they have fibre) they he goes bonkers over-my suggestions: Kale, parsley, cilantro-can’t find bunnies who don’t like those
  
  I don’t think it’s creepy at all to ask what practice your vet is going to. I’ve followed my hairdresser to three different salons and I assure you the card was your very polite very professional way of asking you to contact him to find out where he is. If you like the vet-find out where he is and continue seeing him

  Leo is the one w/ chronic dental problems, though he hasn’t needed any dental work in at least 8 months (maybe he’s due Sarita?)
  
  We have been syringe feeding him critical care. Sat. & Sun (2-3x day) and now once a day in the evening (30mls). His weight last night was 4.25 lbs. So it doesn’t seem any worse from the weekend.
  
  I did make an appt for tomorrow night, just to be sure everything is moving in his system. Found out that both my main vets left the practice!!!!! I now have to see a different/new vet, yuck! Leo has always been a terrible hay eater. I have noticed that the pellets are not gone when I get home, which they were b/f. Oops…DH did buy the wrong pellets, w/ some junk in them, the few weeks b/f the trip, when I was sick. He usually feeds the rabbits in the morning and I only learned, while on vacay, that the bunnies were only eating the junk and not the pellets. Maybe that’s part of it. I have tried giving him his fav veggies (cilantro, parsley, romaine, dandelion greens), but it hasn’t really worked.
  
  Since the binky consensus says its ok to contact my old vet….and now that I learned the other vet left too, I will. I tried checking their state licensing info, but no changes have been posted…now that’ creepy
