This semester is O-V-E-R! This semester has been so much better than last semester. Instead of 3 C’s and one A I already have 3 A’s this semester! One more grade still needs to come in (though that teacher is a little slower in grading), and I know that one will be a B or a C, but I’ll take it! I am so happy with myself making such a big turn around! My life really is in a much better place. It seems like this year flew by, but so much happened! I know that there are a few other students on here; care to share how your semester went? Any teachers, or anyone else who just wants to reminisce about this year?
Its over its over its over!!!!!!! Yay! I was so scared this semester, im a freshman. And im really hard on myself with my grades, so I was really worried about keep my grades up to my standards. But I think I did AWESOME! I only have two grades posted now, two A’s. But I know another will be an A for sure. The fourth im shaky on, it could be an A or a B. So maybe ill even get straight A’s for the first time! Im excited too that I made some friends lol, Im kinda shy so it doesnt happen all the time. I love college!
W00t w00t! I’ve been doing the happy dance for 2 days too, I love the end of the semester! I have 3 glorious weeks of peace and quiet!
Great job guys! School is hard but you’ve pulled thru! I’m waiting on my final grades as well… out of 5 classes, I know 4 are As… just waiting on the 5th (which should be an A as well!)
Me, too!! I wrote my last exam this morning (microbiology), and was sooo stressed out about it! I’m so glad it’s over! Yay for Christmas break!
Congrats everyone! I miss being in school 🙁
Do you guys care to share what majors you’re all in? I always find it so interesting to know what people are majoring in and why 🙂
I’m going for art education! I would go for just art, but I like eating too much to be a starving artist. Plus breaks are appealing, or maybe I will even be able to teach a class abroad over a summer! I was originally going for Marine Biology, but I didn’t like Chemistry, and when I got cancer I took a really good, hard look at my life. Now I’m not only having more fun in school, but I am really looking forward to being able to teach once I get out! I have worked with mentally and physically disabled children, and even though I plan on teaching at a college level, I would love to also volunteer and teach children.
Wow, everyone here is doing so good! I can’t believe I got 3 C’s last semester.
At least this semester should help bring my GPA back up.
Hehehe, I’ve been done for over a week =P I’m on the quarter system though…I’m so glad this quarter is over. It was brutal. I did well though!
I’m studying mechanical engineering and I have a minor in Spanish. As for why… um… I needed a major? =P Engineering is cool and all and I’ve had internships every summer, which I’ve really enjoyed, but I plan on ultimately going to either med school or law school. If I go to med school, I’ll focus on robotic surgery and pediatric cardiology; if I go to law school, I’ll focus on patent law (and hopefully, I’ll be able to get a job with the company I’ve been interning with – Cummins Inc – writing their patents!)
KytKattin, I didn’t know you had cancer!
Wow. I bet that is a life changing thing… If you don’t mind me asking… are you in remission now? Anyway, I’ll pray for your healing. I’m glad you’re doing what you enjoy now! ![]()
Wow, that sounds really cool Barbie! My boyfriend is going into Aerospace Engineering, and my dad is a mechanical engineer with a minor in Nuclear Engineering so I know a little about that kind of stuff. You really do sound like you have where you are going figured out! I spent my first year in college struggling with that. lol.
It was only thyroid cancer, so I really am lucky. I know that there are a lot more dangerous cancers out there! Basically the little bit that I had in my thyroid was only about the size of a pencil eraser. I think that knowing that I had cancer, but not knowing how much there was was probably the hardest part, which is why I didn’t do so well last semester. I got a little depressed. I no longer have a thyroid, it was removed at the end of May. The cancer showed up only in that one spot, but I still had radiation treatment in July to remove any more thyroid or cancer bits. My most recent blood test apparently did not show any thyroid tissue regrowth, so I am pretty sure that I won’t have to have another radiation treatment! I will be on thyroid meds for the rest of my life (pending new technologies!), but other than that everything should be pretty normal. Oh, and I wear a silk scarf all the time to keep my scar from the sun so it should eventually fade to almost nothing. Even though it is a good 3 inches on my neck (just above my collar bone) hardly anyone notices it when I have my scarf off. Heck, for my figure drawing final I even included it and no one noticed until I pointed it out! lol.
KytKattin, hahaha, I don’t know about having everything figured out… my problem is that I have too many interests that I can’t decide what I want to do! I was seriously considering molecular genetics and vet school for awhile too, but at this point, I’m so far along in mechanical engineering, that, well, that’s that. I don’t want to stay in college forever!
I figure, I have time to figure out my true calling before professional/grad school
Honestly, I’d love to be a vet, but in the area that I live, vets are really underpaid, and financially, vet school makes absolutely no sense cus I’d be paying back those loans for AGES. So I’ll just go do something else and have lots and lots of animals
Sigh. Ok, I’m done with my rant.
That’s good that the cancer seems to be gone! But even so, just the word “cancer” is scary! Btw, how did you FIND cancer in your thyroid? Also, I hope the scar fades! I’ve heard that rubbing vitamin E (break open a liquid vitamin E capsule) on scars helps, though I’ve never tried it. And then there are all those creams and stuff that are supposed to help diminish scars… but I’m sure you’ve heard about all of that.
KytKattin, I’m glad to hear that your cancer bout seems to be over. Here’s to that!
I’m taking nursing, with the intention of working for a few years after I graduate to pay down the loans a bit and then becoming a nurse practitioner. It’s actually weird how I chose nursing. I always KNEW that I did not want to be a nurse; I had honestly never even considered it as a remote possibility. Then, all of a sudden, I KNEW that I was supposed to be a nurse. It was the strangest thing, but I knew that I was doing the right thing… isn’t that weird? Plus, I applied to the uni program VERY late in the summer, and received my acceptance letter in literally three days (people go on waiting lists for the nursing program at my uni starting in February). To me that was a sign that I had done the right thing. Anyway, I’m half way through year 3 of 4 and it’s the best decision I have ever made.
That’s right Barbie, you’re down at OSU! They have strange semesters, I can never figure out when my friend starts and ends her classes… LOL!
I just started my Dental Hygiene program… it took me two full years of prerequisites to get accepted into the program, and I still have two years until I graduate. One semester down, three to go… ;o)
