  Yep! I’ve cleared it with my mom; I’m getting a friend for Little-Bit.
  
  I’m so excited! And nervous at the same time. And a bit sentimental… I haven’t even held another bunny other than Little-Bit since I last held Binkles. I was going to bond Little-Bit to Binkles. Even way back when I first got Binkles six years ago (GOSH!!!) I wanted to get her a friend at some point, and I knew after Binkles passed away that I would adopt another bunny eventually, I just had to process some things first.
  
  I’m certainly no expert at dual-bunny behaviour, but I think Little-Bit will greatly enjoy having a friend. She’s so sweet and gentle and loving, and she just loves attention and interaction so much. It’s going to take her some getting used to I’m sure, but I think that having a friend will benefit her greatly.
  
  Here come the bunny dates in the near future!
  
  So tell me guys, what am I looking at? I’ve never had a male bunny before. What are they like in comparrisson to females?

  Well I am partial to the male bunny since I have two. I really don’t notice any difference in their behavior between speutered bunnies.
  Each bunny really has it’s own personality, whatever the gender, and it’s mostly important of course whom Lil Bit picks when she goes dating. Oooo…so exciting! I am so happy for you! (((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

  I love boys! Both of my boys have been amazingly sweet… my girl… well… she does exhibit the diva-like behavior.
  
  Of course, everybun is going to be different… I don’t need to tell you that.
  
  I’m excited for you! I know you’ve had a hard time since Binkles passed, but I hope this will help to heal your heart a little bit. Hugs.

  Thanks guys, I’m really excited. I haven’t gone out looking for a bunny with the intention of bringing one home since the day I brought Binkles home. It’s a really exciting feeling, but I’m a bit nervous because it involves involving Little-Bit. I’m going to try and acclimate her to Licorice our miniature poodle (would never dream of hurting a fly) before I take her on any dates so she at least gets used to meeting another species other than humans.
  
  This is true, Mimzmum! If she doesn’t seem to like the first few boy bunnies I introduce to her, I’ll try introducing her to a female.
  
  Quick question! How long does it take a freshly-spayed male’s hormones to completely level out?
  
  And also isn’t there a way that a male can hurt a female if he’s un-neutered or not neutered in just the right way?

  Not sure on that…. I have read a newly spayed female could get injured by male neutered or not. Also younger females can get injured.
  With the dates, you might even find one she met the 1st time round she acts differently toward in another date. I reckon some have to just learn rabbit speak a bit if they’re unaccustomed to other rabbits. So the dating may change after some initial socialising.

  Actually, how many different date outings should I take her on before I decide? I had always just thought that it was done in one go.

  How many is up to you… there may be multiple rescues in your area that you can visit too…

  Recently-fixed bunnies – male or female – should be kept away from other bunnies for at least 2-3 weeks after their fixing.
  Also, it’s still possible for males to make females pregnant for a few weeks after the neuter, but that’s not much of a concern if your bunny is spayed.

  I think it depends on how close the shelters are for you to visit with Little-Bit. If it’s possible, I would start with male bunnies who’ve been spayed a month or longer. Call and ask around if they have any experience with bunny dating. Possibly get a selection, and maybe do it in two weekends, so you can go once and then go back.

  Oooo how exciting! Yay for bunny dating! My local shelter has a bunny expert and she helps with all the dating and everything, so I agree with Pam, call around and see if anyone has experience w bunny dating, it would be great if they have a bunny expert that can help you with the introductions and to break up any fights if anything happens. I’m sure you’d be ok on your own though, you seem like a good, experienced bunny slave!

  I will do that, but I kind of doubt that there is anyone around here who does have real experience with bunny dating. Also, I know that bunny dating can be done INCREDIBLY wrong, and I’m afraid of that.

  I think one of the key things is that they don’t obviously hate each other. Liking each other is great… but rarely happens immediately. Ignoring is the more common and (perfectly acceptable!) scenario… Have you read the HRN bonding article? It’s one of my very favorites…

  btw, how did your clay bunny go? Did it survive the glaze kiln?
