Thanks guys you make me feel so much better about this
It sure was a rocky ride! I got there at 7am, giving myself a few hours to catch them, but they were extra playful yesterday, and I had caught them in 5 minutes! It wasnt raining at this point in Callington. The rain had completely missed the farmbut there was the most brilliant rainbow you have ever seen. I took some pictures, I will post them in the morning tomorrow when I am back at work. I called the guy from the farm barn , and he cam up with his horse float and I hooded them and started walking them to the float. The man from the farm barn said he would let me do it myself because he didnt want to ‘break’ them. he was a bit nervous. I think its kinda impossible to break an ostrich. I dodged a kick from Lilly though, this scared michael a bit, lol
I followed them to Hahndorf in the Ute. As cars passed us on the freeway they would slow down and gawk at these heads with hoods on them bobbing around in the float. It must have looked pretty strange.
When we got to Hahndorf it was POURING! I couldnt believe the weather. I unloaded them, and he wanted them to go in with the emus. The emus hissed and pecked at them, and tried to kick them but couldnt reach because they were a bit short. Elle and Lilly just stood there looking at them. then they went for a run in their new paddock, and met some goats and an alpacca that screamed at them and spat black stuff at them. By this point the emus had gotten bored of kicking them, and were harassing some ducks instead. The guy from the farm barn said I looked like a mum who had just lost her babies. I didnt know what to say to that lol. The teenage girl who works there was running around yelling ” OH MY GOD, WE HAVE OSTRICHES!”
I left them to it. on the way home the real weather kicked in. Man, what a storm! I stayed up pretty late last night thinking about them. I hope they made a nest before night so they were protected some from the rain. I hope they have some cover to shelter in for the storm. I really really miss them. But on the other hand, Im really really happy that they have such a good home. They are in with all the other animals, which will certainly satisfy jtheir curiosity. They will be very happy once they settle in. Michael said he would ring me today to let me know how they are, and I am going to visit them next saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He hasn’t rung yet. Im waiting by the phone
