Weyhey they bonded after one weekend. They are lovely to watch together. Anyways, Howey is the boss and Matilda is the submissive one, but when we give her free range (which has only started recently) she sems to get a bit over excited and tries to hump Howey, which he doesn’t seem too keen on. What is she trying to do? We realise she is only a baby and her hormones will make her go a bit loopy sometimes, we are going to get her spayed as soon as she turns the right age.

Thanks and here are pics for your enjoyment

Young rabbits have not shaped their personality yet, so it’s hard to say what exactly she’s trying to achieve. Yound rabbits can be volatile so be careful not to miss the critical time when she will need to be separated. Most kits love the company of other rabbits for reassurance. This is different from bonding, though.

I love the photos – they are too cute together!

If she is just a baby, I don’t really know what she would be intending to do – I don’t believe she would have developed the hormones and personality yet to be taking the dominant position, but I am not very familiar with baby bunnies. Their bonding probably will not be fully done until Matilda has matured, and been spayed, so as she gets older keep an eye out for any scuffles breaking out between them. When Matilda gets to her teenage stage, and is ready to be spayed would probably be the most likely time for them to get into arguments.

                      VERY Cute!!

Babies just hump from what I’ve seen. IT can even be ‘cross over excitement’ where they are just excited and that excites the umn…love part of the brain…it can still be dominance or sexual but very likely just cross over excitement As long as Howey isn’t taking it too badly and it’s not leading to circling or fighting-it’s ok to allow
