I haven’t been on here in a while, and it feels good to be back   Lucy is doing well, I finally saved up enough (and found a vet I’m comfy with) to get her spayed.  She’s got an appointment in two weeks, but there’s a behavior I’m a little curious about.  We got her an xpen a few months ago.  We set it up with her litter pan in the corner of her liking.  Everything went swimmingly until a few days ago.  She’s been kicking litter out of her box.  And I don’t mean it sticks to her feet and gets dragged out.  I mean, there’s like, 2 pellets left in the box.  The rest is on the floor in front of it.  I’m not so much concerned with whether it’ll go away when she gets spayed, I’m sure it will.  I’m wondering what’s driving her to do this?

She probably just thinks it’s fun and entertaining 😉

She would. She’s a little butthead. But when I tried to pick up the litter with the scoop, she lunged at it! She was hardcore grunting at me. I let it go because I assumed she was just in a foul mood.

That definitely sounds like some female adolescent behavior with the lunging and grunting! Haha. Good thing she’s getting spayed soon.

ah…fun times. In the meantime, you miight want to provide her an alternative diggy box. Something like cardboard box on it’s side, filled with shredded paper. For her litterbox, you could put something like a cake cooling rack over the litter, then a thin layer on top. That way it woun’t seel too different for her. Of course, these suggestions may or may not work…you never know with teenagers!

Sammy does that on occasion, more so before her spay btw, when she believes I have waited too long to change the litter. And before that it was when she decided I should change the brand of litter. Sigh.
Anyway, try cleaning out the whole mess and see if she still scatters it. If so, then it’s just being a
