I just moved to my own place a few weeks ago, and when id been living at my moms place my bunnies were forced to live in the garage, which i knew was really bad fro them, thatd be one of the resons why i moved. Now I have a room just for them which they get to run in and stuff, they love it. However after the move I noticed that Foofoo, the dutch bunny I adopted from my local shelter last year, has stopped eating. I thought it might have just been stress from the move at first but its been a good week and a half and shes still not eating. She ate a bit of broclie but thats it. This morning I went to the bunny room and fed my other four and noticed Foofoo still has a full food dish, As I inspected her cage further I noticed a little pool of what looks like bloody urine in the corner. I took her out and she looks fine physicly but im really starting to worry about it. I think she might have a bladder infection..

Also my my female mini lop Puff has a weird white splotch in her eye that doesnt seem to be built up fluids, any idea on what that could be?

That rabbit with the bloody urine really needs the vet. Not eating for that long has nothing to do with moving. There is something really wrong.

You need to get them to a vet as soon as possible.

Oh no! Take the poor bunbun to the vet, that could be serious! May want to take hte one with the eye problem in too, sometimes eye issues don’t heal on their own.

First, cut out the brocolli – that stuff can give a bun gas (just like us humans)
Try some canned pumpkin – good with ruffage and is very nummy to bunny.
See if her belly feels rigid. If it does, go find some smithecone and give her what they recommend for an infant.
Give her belly rubs to help get whatever is blocked up moving again.

I”m assuming that there is some sort of GI statis/blockage happening as that is the #1 trouble buns get into when they stop eating.

The only thing I can think of you can do at home is to start getting her to eat something, as well as you may need to syringe feed her water if she is dehydrated.

The reason everyone is recommending a vet is that a rabbit that hasn’t been eating for 24 hours is considered an emergency, so a week and a half is a serious emergency. When bunnies do not eat they get a build up of undigested food in their stomach, not only does this block their entire digestive system, but it can cause a build-up of bad bacteria in their stomachs. Your bunny needs to start eating again ASAP, so you will need to start force feeding something to get your bunny eating again. If she does have stasis, she is probably also in pain which would cause her to not eat as well. The reason you need to go to the vet is to get her pain medications as well as stomach motility drugs.

The issue with the eye as well as the bloody urine are also vet issues. I’m sorry to not be able to help you more but there is only so much you can do at home on your own before you really need a professional’s opinion.

There may be more experienced vets in your area than you currently know of. Try calling vets in the yellow pages and ask each for a vet that is knowledgeable of rabbits treatment of motility issues. I think you may be able to locate an alternative vet that knows an emergency and can see you.

Lily, are you still way up north? If that vet is the only vet there is, insist that they see your rabbit. It’s not ideal but a vet being a vet has access to medications/procedures that he can perform even if he isn’t an expert of the patient species. I mean, it would be a vet’s job to look up anything he doesn’t know and educate himself and at least try to help this rabbit. Rabbits with blocked GI system can starve and suffer certain sepsis. It is slow and painful for them. Keep your rabbit warm. Massage his abdomen. Try syringe-feeding. Is he drinking?

Are you on a waitlist for an appt? I don’t understand working on it? *confused*

If they aren’t rabbit savvy they can always see them and consult another rabbit vet via phone. It’s really imperative that they see a vet.
